Default Game of the Century

Who else was disappointed by LSU v Alabama in the Game of the Century last night? The game was doomed from the start given it's near-Super Bowl level of hype, but even so it was far from good football. Tons of questionable decisions by Nick Saban; horrid quarterbacking; numerous fundamental breakdowns; blown coverages; stupid penalties; etc.

The only thing worse than the game was the broadcasting of Verne Lundquist. He was clearly not up for the big game.

Other than in the rhetoric of a television station's pr machine, how was this ever in anyone's mind the 'Game of the Century'? It won't even be the game of the season?

By their logic, my neighbor's contesting of her parking ticket was the 'Trial of the Century.'

Yup, not even the game of the week. The Kansas State vs. Oklahoma State was the one of the best games I've seen in a long, long time (and I'm not just saying that as K-State fan). The Wildcats came so close to beating the Cowboys at home.
