That Frisch is a beauty.

I just picked up a treasure trove of 1940s Japanese cards pasted onto album pages here, including most of the big name hall of famers (Kawakami, Betto, Besho, Oshita, Starffin, etc) of the era.

29 cards for a total price of less than $50 US including shipping. This is what I love about collecting here: you can still find scarce vintage gems for extremely cheap prices here (granted they do have paste on their backs, but they are still beautiful). Similar MLB stuff would be out of my price range.

Put some more close up pics of individual cards here:

I just got the 5th member of the my Rustlers team(Al Mattern). Now I just have to decide if I just want one of each of the nine players or try to put together the master set.

I've been looking for a nice example of this card for a while. I thought this one had some great color and eye appeal for a "4".

Jon, that Ruth has good color and eye appeal for an 8! The card isn't a four due to lack of color or registration, that's for sure. Beautiful beatiful card. Congrats!

Congrats Bill! A master set would be cool ... and tough (Beck is not a recent pick up).

Last night, as I did my daily Cobb-check on eBay, my heart skipped a beat when I saw this card up. I had to do a double-take to make sure that it wasn't the Wagner that has been on eBay for a bit. I don't really know exactly what it is that I hope to find on these daily searches, but this one fits the bill. I couldn't hit the "buy it now" button quickly enough.

Orly,

That is fantastic. Getting this today has my hands shaking when I opened the box, so I know how you feel. It has been a long time since I added to my Harry Sutor run, and having Weaver in it is a bit of a bonus.

I don't get usually jealous when I see all the nice pickups - I'm happy with my collection and you can't have everything - but I'm going to make an exception for Ed's San Francisco team card. I am bright green.

Congrats Ed. I think I cost you a few bucks but that is a great card. They were always one of my faves in my collection.

Picked up this Japanese menko card featuring Ruth and Gehrig. The photo is from a 1929 barnstorming tour so I'm guessing the card is from close to the same time. I don't know how many other cards feature both Ruth and Gehrig together so I had to have it:

Default Couple new additions to the T206 team set

Been outbid on 3 of these over the past couple months so I wasn't letting this one get away...

Been holding out for a lower grade PSA copy, but they never seem to show up on eBay (now they probably will) so I figured I'd snag this while it was 10% off, less than $35dlvd.

Nice find! The text on the back says "...he hit 60 home runs the year before last..." so that would definitely date the card to 1929.

Thanks for the info! I figured it was too esoteric to pass up. It's hard to find a Ruth or Gehrig card that you haven't seen before.

Gary - I saw that one but didn't really know what it was. If I recall, the item description said W516-2 or something to that effect.

Very neat strip card sheet! Congrats on the pick-up!

Thanks, Derek! Yep, Heritage incorrectly described the item as a W516-2 sheet, which is funny because they also auctioned the other one as part of Leon's auction in 2015 with the correct set name.

So close to completing my 1907 Cobb RC PC run. One more to go. I love postally used. This one mentions being at the ballgame.

Very nice -

I just picked up a treasure trove of 1940s Japanese cards pasted onto album pages here, including most of the big name hall of famers (Kawakami, Betto, Besho, Oshita, Starffin, etc) of the era.

29 cards for a total price of less than $50 US including shipping. This is what I love about collecting here: you can still find scarce vintage gems for extremely cheap prices here (granted they do have paste on their backs, but they are still beautiful). Similar MLB stuff would be out of my price range.

Put some more close up pics of individual cards here:

That Starffin 3rd prize card is nice. I recently picked that one up myself for my Starffin collection.

Speaking of Japanese cards & Starffin, picked up 2 of my grail cards in same week.
This is a circa 1950 Japanese bromide card of Victor Starffin with a nice blue fountain pen signature.

I will have to dig it out tomorrow but my T210 Miller is miscut nearly identical to yours.

Oh wow, that Starffin is a beauty! How many of his cards do you have in your collection?

Default March

This month will go down in the record book for me. I will not be buying any other cards for a while. Had to send off majority of cards to auction to afford this! Thanks to AJ this Ty found a nice home with Joe. Can't believe I picked up both of these in the same month. Now where is Christy? haha. Won't be able to afford that one any time soon.
