Agreed on the horrible signature. Seems like a niche piece of memorabilia. The value would seem to be in the history of the American flag during Tom Brady's playing days there and the fact he handled it and signed it seems like a nice additional bump. But, I don't think taking the auto grade from a "2" to a "1" would have a dramatic impact on the final hammer price. It is still an alleged "1 of 1" for what it is, with the added bonus of being previously displayed in the New England Hall of Fame. Not sure how you would legitimately establish damages on something like that, but then I am not an expert in value changes based on low grade autos of living figures who routinely produce 1000+ new signed pieces each year.

Maybe the guy can find an orphanage to sue next. Stick it to the other non-profits trying to spread goodwill.

I agree the signature was pretty crappy to begin with and maybe display had nothing to do with it fading. I can also see why someone would be pissed off though. An item leant should be return in the same condition or it should be replaced.

And the solution is simple, the pats hof has im sure a way to get in touch with Brady.. and he can sign it again. Problem solved.

As long as he doesn't just trace over his own signature....

If there's rock solid provenance this was actually a display flag at Foxboro in 2001, (honestly, looks like a pretty generic, medium sized flag to me), maybe $750 bucks with that already crappy looking, apparently recent signature on it.

There's nothing historic about it.



This one of one claim is complete speculation and nonsense. I once had a guy try and sell me a Joe Frazier autograph on an airline ticket for a ridiculous asking price, because he said it was the only known signed airline ticket by Joe Frazier. A 1 of 1, you could say.

This was when Frazier signed 8x10's retailed for about $25-30 bucks or so.

I had to hold my tongue to keep from blurting out "So What!".

Everybody thinks their stuff is worth a million bucks, until they actually go and try to sell it.

But it was pretty cool of the collector to allow it to be used/displayed with the team. On the flip side New England should know about the fading potential and did something to better protect it.

Something not adding up here. He loaned it out and asked for it back months later? Was the display case outside in the sun, or was it just a crappy signature using a crappy pen?

This feels like a set-up to me. He’s looking for a settlement. Maybe not a million bucks, but much more then that piece is worth.
