Anything Being Done By eBay @ Bogus Cards?

I'm an autograph guy and well aware of the fraud that surrounds the fine San Jose auction site. I feel that steps are in fact being made to eliminate some of the fraud as bad pieces seem to be disappearing from the database before the auction ends. Perhaps there is a task force out there watching over the site. I was recently asked to find a colleague a 1952 Topps Mickey Mantle card and was able to find 7 or 8 (this was a couple weeks ago) but only 2 that I felt comfortable with and they were priced out nicely. The others were at between $100-350 and the seller made it a point to the general public that 'it looks authentic to me' and of course didn't offer a refund if it was a 'fake'. Does anyone know if eBay is doing anything about this kind of fraud? After seeing this, I found a couple of really nice T206 Honus Wagner's that...of course the seller wasn't exactly sure if they were authentic or not but managed to pull in several bids.

Note: I'm not stupid enough to fall for a 1952 Mantle for a few hundred bucks and I'm not one of those morons that think you can get a nice Ruth cut for $300. I do have a brain and most certainly passed on the 'it's too good to be true' scenario.

Stick to autographs. A very low grade '52 Topps Mantle will still cost more than $200-$300. You might get half a card for that, literally. I would guess (as this set is too new for me) that a decent PSA 1 would go for about $1000-$1500.......and you could double that, or more, for each grade going up. Again, others on the board know more than I about this set. As for ebay policing sellers auctions it just ain't going to happen. Not in our lifetime. Ebay exists for one reason only ....MONEY....(and to give our fearless moderator a job). Ebay could really give a rat's ass if anyone gets ripped off as long as they make money and aren't liable. Hopefully at some point in time there will be a class action lawsuit and they will be fined hundreds of millions of dollars...otherwise, it'll be business as usual......regards

eBay selling rule stipulate that you cannot claim to not know if an item is real or not. They that if you are not sure it is real, you are not supposed to sell it. You can report it to eBay, and they are usually pretty good about yanking these types of auctions.
