Default PRO Grading - Authentic?

I know that PRO grading has a reputation for grading trimmed cards. Even if a card has been trimmed, are they at least good at determining whether a card is authentic or a reprint / fake? Thanks!

My impression is their cards are generally authentic but altered.

Haven't followed them in a long time, so I take back what I said.

I took a chance and bought a Pro Graded 52' Topps Mays (graded 6) a year ago and I sent it to SGC and it came back a 4. I figured if it graded it would be a 4 so I got a good deal on it. Seller had a return policy so I would make sure if you gamble to make sure you can return it.

I'd say that's really rolling the dice. Do you mind mentioning what you paid?

From what I have seen of PRO's grading their name is a euphemism.

Paid $700. It has really good centering and no creases so it was a pretty good deal. All of the sellers cards were PRO graded and he had sold PRO graded cards before without any negative feedback. He even had a couple 52' Topps Mantles. He guaranteed the card would grade a number or money back-a rarity with PRO graded cards from my experience

I assume these were the cards that people were probably curious about, which the seller ended early: Ruth, Gehrig
