Default 1953 Bowman Color Question

Ever seen one with colored ink along the white part of the border? Red, black and/or blue, specifically? Every so often I see such an example and I wonder if it happened while being printed or afterwards. I know some printing issues like this are common in some sets but I never heard definitively about the 53B's. Any insight is appreciated...

Can't say that I have. Can you put up a scan or photo?

Default Three Common Printing Impefections

I have a bunch of 1953 Bowmans. In looking over them I see three fairly common printing issues across the cards I have:

1) Colored ink "dots" in the white board of the cards
2) Out of focus cards. I assume this is caused when the printing plates are not completely lined up
3) Colored links that run the length or width of the card

Is this what you were looking for?

Default Great set

Overall, though, it is such a great set. The pictures of the players are fantastic and there are some iconic cards and players in the set. Probably my favorite Stan Musial card of all time. I also love the Reese and the Spahn cards as well.

It's fairly common for T206s and other cards from that era to have the color printing plates misaligned-- so colors can overlap at the edges and within the player image. In fact, looking for overlapping solid colors at the edges is one of the authentication techniques for T206s.

Though this can happen in all eras, even in 1970s-80s Topps. As said, a 'blurry' modern card, means the colors weren't perfectly aligned.
