Default 1908 Fred G. Wright Postcard Questions

Posted By: Paul

Picked this one up recently. In my 11 years of collecting pre war, I don't recall ever seeing another one of these. Does anybody else have one, or images of other cards from the set to share? Any checklists out there? Thank you.

Default 1908 Fred G. Wright Postcard Questions

I know that Jim Clarke has one that he picked up a few years ago. Fred G. Wright was the same individual (obviously) that took the pictures for the Tylor postcards. This postcard is NOT part of that set, but a different issue alltogether. I have only ever seen the Donovan in this style, and I have seen at least 3 of this particular postcard (including the one Rhys just sold you) thus he is likely the only subject of this issue (at least until another player surfaces).

Here is a scan of different Donovan (this pose is still uncataloged),

This is a HM Taylor Postcard (like the Crawford above), but the front credits Wright as the photographer.

I see them every once in while on eBay.

Does your Donovan say HM Taylor on the back?

I just bought it yesterday, so I don't have it in hand yet. I have no idea what the back looks like, but will post a scan soon after it arrives.

Just checked JC's website, & his 1908 Fred G. Wright postcard (same as mine) does not have HM Taylor on the back. The only markings are "postcard" & a stamp box. (thanks JC)

Like I said in my earlier post this postcard is not from the Taylor set. The printing on front is a completely different color and there is no mention of Taylor on the postcard anywhere.

Yes, Rhett is correct. Also, it seems so far that Donovan is the only player in the set. Therefore, I have a complete set!
