I see there's a signed Mathewson photo planned for HA's April auction.

Interested to know what others think of it, from what can be seen.

Have seen a few Matty signed photos, but none with the clarity of this signature.

You have a seen "a few" signed Mathewson photos?

Where have you seen these?

I have come to understand that his signatures are a premium in any form...outside of course the two currently offered in Sauderton, PA (hint: think SCD) that rarity and Mathewson signatures as far as terminology goes, go hand and hand.

"A few" may better go with describing...say...Gehrig, but Mathewson signed photos?

Should go for absolute crazy money. The image is as nice as the autograph (and that's saying a lot!) It might be fun to take a poll on this one, to guess the price (similar to what Leon does with cards, once a month).

I agree. This should go crazy even during these tough economic times, but does anyone have any doubts on the authenticity? It is very careful.

I would like some of the authenticators chime in. After all, we have all been programmed to accept these guys as the experts...but even the experts make mistakes.

Expensive mistakes.

The photograph itself is grade A. Without a signature I would expect it to sell for thousands. Zooming in, you can clearly see the cloth patterns in his coat and socks, which is known as detail and clarity in a vintage photo.
