Thanks! I'm hoping to get a bump to a 1.5. Maybe an outside shot at a 2.

Congratulations. Mine was also in a PSA 'poor' holder - I freed Lou and he looks much better in a top loader.
Slabbed 'poor' cards can really be a great buy, since 'poor' can mean almost anything. Picked this one up a few weeks ago:

comments and cards
Scott F- nice looking Gehrig there...
Packs- that is why I collect lower grade too. That card demonstrates precisely why you can't sell or make offers on lower end cards without seeing them. That card should sell for a 2+ price all day long. And here are some W519s with wet sheet transfers on back. I already had the W519-1 Morton with full image on back. I notice someone is selling a very similar type card on ebay for 5k+. If anyone wants this one I will sell it for 4k, today only!!! (I paid $40 for it not too long ago, from Ed H.)

T207 Ted Easterly
This Ted Easterly T207 arrived today. I thought it was a classic catcher pose for the T207 set. Don't recall seeing this player before. Maybe one of the T-207 experts can chime in to whether or not this is a tougher T207 to find.

Easterly is in the tougher half of the 155 Recruits - he's probably somewhere around the middle of that group. -- Mike

Patrick - good to see you again. I was kind of surprised you didn't go after my 1909 Pittsburg catcher cabinet photos. I have a catcher display I'm working on that's going to make you drool.

Just got this in off ebay.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know if the B&W versions and sepia versions are on a different card stock? This seems to be a B&W version, and it also seems that the paper stock is a bit thinner/more flimsy than the others I have. When held horizontally, there is a noticeable sag where my others are rigid. All of my other W554 are the sepia version. Thanks, DJ |

From whimper to whimper
I posted the first pickup of the year, which I identified as bringing in the new year with a whimper. I wanted to be the last post of the year, to end
the pickup festivities with a suitable tragic note. But due to time constraints I must post now. Thanks to Marc for the winsome Walsh, which when held aloft you can actually see light through the card in three places. I have included the Harmon that I also received from Marc so that all can see decent cards can be had from him as well. Happy Old Year! Brian Last edited by brianp-beme; 12-21-2011 at 07:18 PM. |

Rounding Out the Year
Tougher card of overlooked Cecil Travis. Lost several years to the Big One but had an impressive career somewhat lost in Washington.
Thanks Matt G. from the BST. This particular version of "Connie on the Crapper" has made the rounds.
