PWCC new auction.

I find it hard to believe that PWCC and other auction companies can’t see BLACK ink.

In a new slab too. Come on PSA do better.

Like the 62 green tints or 68 Milton Bradleys I think unless graders follow particular odd variations closely themselves they would have a hard time telling one from the other without examples of both in hand via the cards themselves or contrasting scans.

Is incredible from PSA, they know about variation and PWCC know what is a Blackless, not the first time they up for sale mislabeled psa.

The auction was suspended after i wrote PWCC:
Hi jaguar-9742,

Thank you for reaching out about this issue. Our team has taken a look at this and have adjusted our title and listing. Thank you for your interest and participation in our auction!

Another mislabel.
PSA graders should have a sticky note... Black on the front = Not Blackless

Coolest thing I’ve seen in a long long time. You may have inadvertently started a new trend that if continues will make blackless cards with no signature increasingly more scarce. I mean, there’s one less Henderson out there now and he was already tough! You have me considering doing this with my second Dodgers team set (I am a few cards shy of having a graded and raw team set).

+1. The Dodger's team is one of the most difficult due Dodger's team fans. From B i Need Steve Yeager in Complete Blackless. The Blackless Cards are very Hard to find, i had the good luck to find nice ones.

I will keep my eyes open on Yeager for you. I failed to also mention that I think it was outstanding that you chose to use green ink to differentiate it from the original black facsimile. If I do end up attempting to obtain dodger signatures I will likely go with a blue fine tip sharpie with this in mind.

that's seriously one of the coolest cards i've seen in all my time collecting (with the green auto). i'm considering buying a regular 1982 rickey and doing it, even though the cost would totally outweigh the value (then i realize the signature is already on the regular...maybe not...haha)

Do it!
Best blue pen on cards IMO.
Rickey used the green size F on my Blackless.

Not mine, but the owner shared with me in a Henderson group PM.
Has to be one of the best Blackless “finds”. Wow.

Cliff --I think for forgiveness you would have to give it back .

It has been awhile but I seem to recall that in putting my set together the Ryan, Henderson and Morris were the ones that set me back the most

Al, I agree Henderson, Morris, and Ryan are higher value Blackless. The Henderson and Morris probably due to scarcity and Ryan for player collectors.

IMO the Henderson is nuts because it is a scarce C sheet and a player collector favorite.

Paid $20.50 and he said he was offered 3k the next week. He did not accept. I know I would not accept that for mine either

Cliff, I can't imagine being that seller and finding out what he sold.

That's incredible, a Henderson's Blackless for that price, was the deal of entire life. I had the Good Luck to found Ryan and Morris in Blackless version. Other hard is Hector Cruz without Print Flaw.

Apparently Beckett doesn’t recognize Blackless… still can’t believe this was closed at eBay auction for under $20!

wow...That should be embarrassing for PSA. Why would they slab it Blackless when there is clearly Black ink??? Maybe some of the new graders.

Very embarrassing for PSA, think in the step of research they can note the difference between regular and Blackless. Is incredible lot of regular cards with Blackless designation.

None of the above.

Magenta progressive proof.

I would venture a guess it is most likely blank backed?

Billy---when you say only 1 or 2 copies you are referring to the blueless rather than blackless, right ? I picked the few blueless examples I have when putting together my blackless set. Don't know how many exist but likely not many.

With the blackless there were enough out there you could try to build a set and when they got listed in SCD and recognized by PSA the competition for them in the hobby drove up prices. I think the blueless lack the hobby recognition to have great value other than among oddity or specific player collectors. Others may think differently.

I am in agreement with Al here, as per usual.

I am of the opinion that the blueless are of course the usual backdoored print flaw sheets of the time. To be honest I would guess there are very few, likely less than 5 sheets. Even your estimate of 1 or 2 is believable.

Your example has one big issue and that is the poor sheet cut that someone did with a pair of scissors (most noticeable on the back). This can be a big impact on value as many error collectors really focus on pack pulled errors, not printer's scrap, which is really what these are. If sheet cut, it needs to be done well.

While a neat oddity, these don't really hold much value due to the limited number of weirdos like Al and myself that collect them. Had they been packaged and distributed like the blackless and PSA gradable, the value would change.

Only a very small number of uncut backdoored sets find their way into master set and number grades, the full front and back 1985 Topps minis being the most recognized.

The only opportunity for grading these might be Beckett and they would label it a proof most likely with no number grade. Not sure if they still grade proofs, but I have a bunch of older ones I have accumulated. I think grading cost might exceed value in this case.

I think on this, the value would be really what the eBay bidders decide on any given day. As Al said, commons don't do well. Had it been a star or semi-star they can do better due to player collectors.

A lesson in why I shouldn’t use my phone to purchase stuff on eBay.

“Blacklessing” instead of true Blackless. I thought I was upgrading… Oh well. At least I still have the lower graded true Blackless
