Default 1927-28 Mallorquina Cuban League BB Cards

I was always under the impression that only one copy of each card existed (particularly HOFers, Willie Foster, Martin Dihigo & Pop Lloyd) from the above set and all cards were part of an uncut sheet. However, I recently saw 6 indivisdual cards from the set in PSA holders in an upcoming auction preview. Does anyone know if the uncut sheet was broken up or if other single cards do exist in the hobby?

Singles exist. I've seen Marcelle and a few others, and I believe Ryan has a Dihigo single.

May I ask what auction preview you saw them in?
I know Matt Goebel once owned the uncut sheet-it would be a shame if someone broke it up.

Hopefully Matt will see this thread and offer his thoughts.

Thanks for the info, Kenny.

The sheet was up for auction a couple of years ago and I was a couple of bids below the winner. Not sure who picked it up though.

Default Mallorquinas

I did own the sheet at one point, but sold it many years ago. I'm pretty sure I know where it is and it is still intact, thankfully. Yes, there are singles that exist - but as far as I know Foster and Lloyd have not turned up, supposedly they have survived only on the uncut sheet. If one or the other was found as a single card it would be big news.

Do you know which cards are going to be auctioned, and is it REA?

Matt

Hello to all... nice to meet you all... I thought that I would clear up the "mystery" and let you know that I have the sheet and would never cut it up.

I collect negro league cards, and while my collection is nothing compared to Matt's, it is pretty solid. Still looking for a punch with back, if anyone has one at a decent price and hage's dairy minoso and luke easter and a few toleteros/denia.

I have a number of things to trade and am currently living in PA.

Al

Phil,

I think the sheet will remain intact and uncut as long as we can keep it out of your hands. LOL!

Also, I think there's an auction going on right now that has one lot of 14 cards from the set.
