Default Writing on the back of T206s

Posted By: Chuck

Can somebody help me find the threads on this topic....seems like there have been a couple in the last few months. I just got a T206 that has a Purple star stampled on the back and an "R" that may be part of an initial.

Default Writing on the back of T206s

I started one of the above threads and really enjoy owning cards with a stamp on the back. At the National I tried to pick up a couple from a table in the back row. The dealer was charging $350.00 for an Ed Walsh t206 with a grocery store stamped on the back. The card was in "good" condition at best with scuff on the front. He said it might "be something special" and that a friend of Doug Allen's was very interested in it, although he would gladly sell it to me for $350. I declined and moved on. I made the mistake of telling him I collect cards with stamps. I like them but won't pay more than they are worth.

i wonder how much the ones from F. Scott Fitzgerald's childhood collection would go for? They supposedly have an old english style black "F" stamped on the back. Still hoping to add one to my collection someday. Also wonder how many other famous people collected old baseball cards back in the early days?
