You know, Suzanne Pleshette died yesterday. I think it's time for a new thread.

Since the thread is still at the top right now and I wouldn't be bumping it, I want to offer condolences to Bob Newhart and Alice (Brady).

I'm starting to think starting this RIP thread has thrown a bit of bad luck towards the rich and famous.

RIP Heath Ledger

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2008/01/22/heath-ledger-found-dead_n_82721.html

Two young Hollywood actors dead from overdose in less than a week. Brad Renfro being the other one last week.

It's sad, but I must confess I don't know him. Heard the name, but I don't think I've ever seen him... It's the price of fame.

That's where I've heard of him. It's been on HBO almost every night but it's just not my thing, if you know what I mean. And my wife won't watch it either...not that there's anything wrong with it.

I know what you mean. I know someone who says he has a friend who watched it though and said it was a good movie.

He's also the Joker in the new Batman movie, which looks pretty good!

I have to admit that I was hesitant to watch Brokeback Mountain, but my wife and I try to watch all the Academy Award nominated movies and I can say that it was a very good film. There are uncomfortable moments, but definitely worth watching.

I figured it would be a good movie...now that he's gone maybe we'll give it a try. 28 is too young.

You guys are doing a good job stifling that latent homosexuality; keep it up. But I promise if you watch it you won't turn gay -- at least on the outside.

Edited to add: holy crap -- Dan Bretta is a moderator? And we have no appropriate Youtube flim for this thread?

This is true shock. Would have thought that the talented twenty-eight year old would NOT outlive Britney Spears AND Amy Winehouse? One thing that was interesting to read is that while doing the "Dark Knight" movie, he got so wrapped up in being the joker that he became a full fledged insomniac because the character he played disturbed him so. He then followed that up with a more depressing and cynical creature in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus", this after he learned all about abusing hard narcotics in a movie called "Candy" (disturbing and not really worth your time). While doing "Dark Knight", he would goes without sleeping and turned to sleeping pills which didn't help either. It's really sad. So young.

Slim Whitmas is deceased? I know he turned eighty-four yesterday but saw no where that he passed on.

DJ

P.S "Brokeback" mentions is so 2005.
