Default What is your analysis? Real or fake?

So I want to pick this up. I was zooming on my computer and cell phone to see if it was real. I have no conclusion either way. I want to believe this real, but I don't have the evidence that checks out.

Thank You. Here's the link: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1910-T206-Sw...YAAOSwp5JWXPe2

I'd vote real. Just no reason for it not to be. A deserved 10, but nice eye appeal.

They say it's real if you can spot the dots. I see slightly cheaper of the same cards with dots. Those aren't graded and ideally I'd like to buy graded.

Real. There would be no monetary gain in faking something like that.

I want to think it's real, but fakes can be slabbed, too. If it's fake, it hasn't been discussed as a reprint.

I can't decide if the idea of counterfeiting poor SGC commons is either the worst (low ROI) or best (little scrutiny) possible business model when it comes to hobby-related criminal enterprises.

Either way, seems like a low risk buy.

100% real but not worth the ask in my opinion. Back is too damaged. Bet you can find another SGC10 in better shape for less.

Eye appeal, schmy appeal. The price is high for a '1'. I sold some 2.5's for around that price range, some even less. If you buy it, you aren't going to recoup your money when it comes time to sell.

That's fine. Still a true statement it is priced high. But there are gobs and gobs of threads about overpriced BIN's. Welcome to Ebay.

It's $24.95. It probably costs $15 fully loaded just to get it graded. How is that too high of an ask for a 100 year old card? Just pull the trigger.

It is actually $5-$6 to grade a card. If you think that is not priced high, then you need to look at completed listings. But it's just a card. Get back on topic. Buy it and be happy. Adios.

It's more than that. Got to add shipping both ways and TPG mandated insurance.

If a card makes you happy and it's under $25, why even spend the time researching past sales? Come to think of it, I've spent way too much time in this thread.

Ask yourself the following:

Would it be worth taking a reprint Cravath and beating it down to a point where it would only grade a "1" and then send it in to be graded so that you can sell it as a "1"?

Sure, the TPGs miss a few fakes but how often have we seen SGC slab a fake T206? Can anybody post scans of fake T206 cards in SGC slabs?

Oh, to answer the post, I think the card is real.

Higher demand player though. It may be a couple bucks overpriced but a 10 is not just a 10 imo. Just because you can get another with the same numerical grade is meaningless.

I'm confused by this one as well. Why would you think a common t206 in an sgc holder is fake?

Default T206 Cravath

Cravath is priced as a common, but he had some pretty good home run stats in his day. I would look for one with less back damage and honest wear. You almost always get a better deal if you wait for an auction as opposed to a BIN...Here's another BIN...FWIW...

Leon I think I'd reallocate a bit if I were you. Reduce hedge fund assets to 15%, eliminate all fixed income positions, increase real estate allocation to approx 15% of portfolio thru alternative rental assets, shift at least half of international equity allocation to U.S. equities and anything remaining in international equities should contain a hedged dollar component.

My personal asset allocation is actually about 50/50 in two of the largest index funds with the least costs. I leave them alone.
My pie chart was concerning how to allocate the $24.95

Nothing wrong with being too careful, Topps206. I'd also vote real. Don't mind the minor criticism or take it personally, either. We get sellers on here from time to time trying to draw attention to their auctions, so don't be surprised if a few folks on here are cynical or skeptical.

The nice thing about buying on eBay with your credit card is you can always receive the card and then look at it closely once it's in hand. Then, if you determine it's a fake, you can always return it as "item not as described". Good luck with your collection!
