I went to leave positive feedback for this seller and the above was the message I got. This is John Rogers ebay user name and I've had scores of problem free transactions with him over the last nine or ten years. Hard to figure this one...

He is very well known in higher end circles in the hobby. He recently bought a few million really nice photos and has been selling them in a lot of different venues. I have spoken with him several times on the phone...he has posted on this board several times, and I have no idea about the NARU. I think John is the one that couldn't quite keep track of how many Wagners he owns .....I believe he bought a few through Mastro/Legendary...

I too have a bought a ton of stuff from him. I think he has other people that handle all the ebay stuff so whatever happened may not have had any direct tie to John at all. Certainly nothing that could have been fraud etc., probably just an account mixup or something like that.

As noted, you can be temporarily NARUed for technical 'accounting' reasons, such if you have on record a wrong telephone number or you forgot to update the date with your new credit card. In these types of cases, the seller should be back in good standing as soon as the issues are fixed.

I spoke with John today and he said the account should be up and running again in a few days. The account was temporarily NARUed for technical 'eBay' compliance reasons. His team listed an Adolf Hitler original press photo and eBay suspended them for compliance issues. His eBay account representative is working diligently to get the "lexibell" account operational again.

On a more positive note - John was on cloud nine when I talked to him because he took possession of his most recent purchase today. For those who don't know - John acquired "The Sporting News Photo Archive" as well as thousands of original Charles Conlon glass plate negatives, including the famous Ty Cobb stealing third, sliding into Jimmy Austin.

For those who are interested - here is a link to the story.

That's quite a list (human parts and remains). I guess I can't sell my own kidney if money gets tight. Damn.

Somebody tried selling his kidney on ebay a few years back. As I recall he was asking $5 million for it. They got rid of that one quickly. But it made the news.

And here I thought that I had a ground-breaking idea. Should have known someone had already tried it.

John's "lexibell" account is up and running as of this morning - The previously listed items have not been reloaded, but the account is good to go. I am sure his team will have that back in place over the weekend.

On a fun note - John said that he is planning a meet and greet for his 600,000+ new friends (from The Sporting News) at his home this weekend.

That sounds like a blast to me...

Chris- I would give anything to go back a few years to John's warehouses in No. Little Rock when he purchased the inventory of Sports Collectors Store and B&E.

I saw publications (in duplicate) that I may never see again. If I had to do it over again I would take out a second mortgage.

My daughter and I spent many days there sorting for John with our lunch in an ice chest. I know you and Mike Sanders spent many days there too!

Not a nicer fellow in the hobby on either the collecting or business end.

If any of you get the chance to speak with John ask him to tell you the story about the time the ATF Officers surrounded his house one morning! John had purchased a large group of firearms in a movie prop auction but did not know he needed to be registered as a firearms dealer. It's a great story.

Hey Mike - how are you???

That ATF story was hilarious (some of the props are still in my kids' weapon arsenal) - and heck yeah - the warehouse days were a blast!!!

Mike Sanders and I made many a trip from Memphis to the warehouse that year. I can't tell you how many "Moon Pies" Mike ate that summer because he refused to stop working long enough to grab lunch. Our buddy Mike Harper was still very involved at that time - man those were the days....

JR is a great guy and one of my very best friends

I am planning to head over Monday to check out the TSN collection and the Conlon negatives. It's gonna be like Christmas in July...

Interesting how many newspapers and periodicals have started selling off their photo archives. Tough times for the print industry, but a bonanza for the photo collectors. I wonder if there are any photos in the TSN collection that will fit my collection?
