Default OT > Help with SPANISH Translation of 1877 Arizona Letter

Hi All,

Leon,
Hope this is Ok to post? I have tried other venues and have had some response "I will look into it" but have not received any info back?

I have posted this letter in the "Show your Americana / Non-Sports Memorabilia" thread, but thought I would make a specific request.

Can anyone help me with the translation of this letter? I believe this is a letter written by Frank P Clymers wife to LJF Jaegers wife while the Jaegers were visiting family back in Hamburg Pennsylvania?

Any help or contacts is much appreciated.
Thank you,
Shawn

Hi Lance,

Thank you for the link. I have actually tried to use the "google translate", but it does not work well with this letter. Not sure if the letter consists of "Old Spanish" or if I am not able to read the letter correctly? I am doing something wrong or it is just not geared for a letter of this age?

Shawn

Shawn,
The first bit that I read didn't seem to be odd in its wording or spelling, so my guess is you may be mis-spelling some of the words as you transfer from the scripted text to typing it into Google. It sounds like you may have some other help by now (thanks Shaun). If you need another set of eyes on it though, feel free to send the scans to me as well and I'll take a crack at it when I'm up late tonight. I'm just a bit cramped for time right now.

I appreciate every ones help with this! I would like to return the favor, so if you have something that you have always wondered about or cannot figure out - please hit me up! I am fairly effective with my research techniques.

Here is a picture of the Jaeger Family with the wife of whom the letter was written to. Thought this may give some context?

Side Note: Some of you may have heard of "Billy the Bear" (Louis John Frederick Iaeger) who traveled with Buffalo Bill and his show.... Well, "Billy the Bear" was the nephew of the man pictured below (and shared the same name) and that is probably a young Billy (in the dark suit) pictured below as well.
