Default Somewhat OT: Baseball art at Nat Bailey Stadium, Vancouver

The new purchasers of the Vancouver Canadians baseball team asked my spouse Jennifer if they could reproduce some of her works of old-time baseball players and hang them at the ballpark. She of course said yes, and here are the results, with some photos of the park

Needless to say, it's quite a thrill to go to a game at the ballpark and see something which my spouse has created. (The feeling isn't quite so visceral when I look at the tax submissions I put out every day...)

I mentioned in an earlier thread we'll be having a SABR meeting in Vancouver on Saturday, August 25, and we are finalized the process of having the meeting at the ballpark (no game that day), followed by a barbeque at our house. If anyone is interested in attending, let me know.

and even the Obak bear has found a home at the stadium

For those of you whom I haven't emailed off-list, here are a couple photos of the Bob Brown Bear Obak bobble-paw which was given out at a game here a couple of weeks ago

Hey, Max! I want one!

PS. Greetings from sunny Lethbridge, Alberta (L.A., eh.)

PPS. You know you're really addicted when ... you are sitting at the laptop in your boxer shorts, a million miles from home in a ratbag motel in Boony Boony Land, haven't shaved in three days and on your fourth cup of ratbag motel coffee and ya gotta get an N54 fix.

David

Are you a Pronghorn? We were in Lethbridge this summer on our way back from Saskatoon. Let me know if you're stopping off in sunny Vancouver.

As for the BB bobblepaws, it is much like Beany Babies and Cabbage Patch Dolls. Restrict supply and artificially create demand, and voila -- an instant collectible

They are in fact very cool, and have one pawing on my desk as I write....

Max

David, if you want a bobble paw you might need to make a midnight shirt delivery to an unnamed shirtless lawyer.

Just saw your wife's artwork on TV!
they showed a brief shot of the ballpark during this week's Real Wives of Orange County, because one of the women's sons plays for the Vancouver Canadians...(wife has it on behind me, and I turned to watch when I heard them talking about minor league baseball, honest!)

anyway, I recognized the stdium and pics immediately!!!
very cool.

Thanks Jason. I don't watch the show, but the player is Shane Keough

He comes from a baseball family--he is the son of Matt Keough, and grandson (?) of Joe Keough

You can see the video clip at

http://www.tv.com/media_player/12013/105/viewer.php&context_type=101&context_id=57002#media-12013>

Here's a pic of a printscreen I took of the video

Pretty darn cool

Max,

In my opinion, it is the perfect gallery for your wife's amazing paintings. Very nice story. You both must be thrilled.

Thanks for sharing,
Jantz
