Default What was used to sign this?

Circa 1940 Chicago Blackhawks hockey puck

Thoughts on what might have been used as the means of signing this, and the type of ink used?

You could get white ink back then. You rarely see it except on dark colored photos and rarely pucks when they surface. Nice item by the way.
