Default Ward's Wilson

Hi Al,

Great Wagner! I'm not sure why but this Wilson is really hard to find. I'd part with it but seeing as I'm down to needing only one from the set, I'd have to get something pretty decent in return. Also, I don't think my friend would mind if I post this example of a really early Mets button. I'd never seen it before last week and it's a beauty.

Al,

Took me awhile to find the pins in question. What I have realized is all the pins are of Reds players. Yours, mine, and another one held by a third person. Perhaps just a coincidence that only Reds pins have surfaced, but probably not. The Reds were NL Champions in 1939 and 1940. These dates correspond to when the players on these pins played for the Reds. Perhaps they were issued in association with the team's success in that time period. In any event, your question has prompted me to conclude there is an older starting point in the history for the large PM10 pins.

Ciao,

Paul

Default pins

Paul,
I would conclude the same thing. It makes more sense that it would be a later date. Who would go thru the trouble and union stamp these pins as we said they arenot stars but common players. As you stated maybe the reds did a little package of these pins for the 39 world series. Who knows. But yes I do believe the larger PM10s were started later than the late 40s.

Michael: The YS booklet is really neat. Great photos and interesting text (from what I can read) about the birth of the one and only Yankee Stadium of my small kid time memories.

Default Reds Amusement Park Pins

The first one below is from the old Coney Island Park near Cincinnati. I'm not sure when or why it was made. The actual size is about 1.25 inches in diameter, I enlarged it so you could see the paddle wheel boat that was used to ferry people to the park. The second one is from Kings Island. Believe it is mid-80's.

Thanks for posting those, Dave...

Boy, do I have some fond memories of going to Coney Island as a kid in the late '60s. The image of that "Lost River" boat ride (with the steep drop) still scares the heck out of me. I guess the Park shut down shortly after we moved away in 1970.

Great Pin... thanks again!

Default Reds Press Pins

Those were some great press pins. How did you come by the prototypes? Those must be incredibly rare. Here are a few from my collection.
