I won't watch and haven't generally don't watch any similar shows on TV, whether Pawn Stars or anyone else.

1. The little bits I have seen of this genre are all fake as hell and the silly dramas they gin up are just ridiculous.

2. It's all just promotional BS for whoever the stars are.

3. Many times they are way way way off on valuation.

Antique Roadshow is a decent watch but even they are ridiculous sometimes on prices. "It's worth between $85 and $100,000." Sure. Try to sell it and report back. I'll wait.

It sounded like they were all discussing with Ken how much they were willing to bid, a la Brent and the $30K *Altered* PSA 10 Bowman Musial... yes, ripe for shill bidding. It's amazing how many times he could have mentioned something illegal but came just short...

I’ve been binge watching this week. Just had a really cringeworthy moment in episode 4 when the head of auctions (Dave Amerman) says “provenance” but pronounces the nance like the word “nonsense”. So, not provenance (as normal people pronounce it), but with a French accent. And then explains what the word means. Dude. Really?

But I got sucked into all the collectibles as I get sucked into watching other shows like American Pickers waiting to see what they find.
It was also very much feels liked this was timed with some of their auctions like as this is starting to air on Netflix the Dream Team Auction starts

I might fast forward through the episodes just to catch a glimpse of the rare memorabilia, but I don't think I could take sitting through the whole episodes, based on what most folks are saying.

I definitely got a kick out of seeing Karl Malone's Dream Team collection and hearing the story of how he got it. I cannot imagine a better signed basketball jersey team run, especially with the unassailable provenance. Even the shoes*. If I was rich that would be something I would go after very, very aggressively.

*Is it the shoes, Michael?

If you want to watch something fun and a lot more wholesome regarding the hobby watch the YouTube show “Chasing Cardboard” which actually does focus on sports cards. The production quality is top notch for a YouTube show.
My wife put this on while we were watching tv together thinking she was being nice. I appreciate the gesture of course, but found it off-putting for the same reasons.

The prices were astronomically inflated to excite the unknowing. When the auction took place I thought the Robinson jersey was a marketing gimmick and should not have been included. Seeing the behind the scenes of promising an impossible amount to an absolute dreamer was nuts. The amount he did get was still insane and just due to the timing of that auction.

Also, please forgive me to the east coasters that don't notice this, I can't stand the cast of Jersey Shore that works for him. I wouldn't buy a used car from those voices and it's soured me completely on taking the company seriously. Get some people with some actual subject matter expertise and don't look like they drive an IROC with a tracksuit to work every day.

Watched episode 1 until Ken and daughter have talk about "pulling out". I would rather watch Ashley Gold get assaulted on Hardcore Pawn.

Right? I thought of that show too when I watched this. My daughter and I used to watch that show all the time just to see customers go ballistic on Ashley. Cracked us up. As my daughter put it, she just has a slappable face and it was fun the moment a customer realized that the woman (who has zero customer service skills) actually said whatever offensive or annoying thing she would come up with, usually followed by Ashley's stunned expression when the customer screamed at her for essentially being labeled an idiot.

Apparently only two. Holdin' and a repeat of the name Goldin.

Don't even think they worked out a way to slip the word "golden" in there...even though it's right there in the name. Maybe they did, but I've got to go wash my hair and don't have the time to confirm.

Started off boppin' and then they lost me partway through. Had to stop when it felt like I had been listening to the song for about 10 minutes. Imagine my shock when I discovered I was only at the 1 minute 30 second mark.

Maybe a rewrite is in the works. Gotta improve a bit on the wordplay.
