Is he a popular player to collect I have been reading about him and he seems to have been a great baseball player? Is he in the likes of Christy Mathewson, Walter Johnson?

A total monster at the plate! Played outfield next to Cobb and Jones. I think he holds the record for career triples. Has a terrific interview in/on The Glory Of Their Times. Don't compare him with collecting pitchers, but he'll tell you about them.

Just seems his cards are so much cheaper than say Cobb but seems to have had a amazing career.

Not that the Hall of Fame is the be all end all, but Cobb and Johnson were elected in the first possible year 1936. Crawford, not until 1957. He's not in that top tier that Cobb, Johnson, Mathewson are in.

Wahoo Sam was a great player, his 312 triples is unbreakable record for sure.
Hit'em in the crowd and keep running

He's popular to collect but not top tier like Matty and Johnson..

The W600 Crawford comes up for sale/auction very rarely. My best guess is that in decent condition, you would pay $4,000 - $6,000.

His record for triples & overall stats shows his tenacity. Also, he has some great images on some old cardboard. I think his image on the the Sepia & Novelty Cutlery sets are awesome. Somewhat under rated for sure.

After you read it you'll want to get the CD. You hear their actual voices, and great for long periods behind the wheel.

Oh yeah a CD with their actual voices gotta love technology!!! It may be Easter but Christmas for me!!! I will for sure order that as well.

By the way love the look of that card from 1910....just put it as my back round image on my desktop.

I purchased his 1909 E90-1 card yesterday in SCG 50 (4) love the colors and image on that card as well.

The vintage card collecting community is WAY WAY better and nicer than other hobbies I have that is for sure!!!

I quite collecting coins because there was nothing but hating (grumpy old men) and just got sick of it....sold all my coins hence the funds to make my purchases of vintage cards.

Sam Crawford was one of the top hitters in the deadball era. He was a power hitter that had lots of extra base hits. He didn't steal many bases compared to others of his day and was a hard-working quiet guy. He was a great RBI man, before RBI became a popular statistic. The media tended to focus on batting average, runs scored and stolen bases in that era, so Crawford wasn't leading the league in those categories. He may have been a little slow in the outfield. In 1911, for example, he had 181 putouts while Ty Cobb had 376.

He is undervalued as a HOF player and a good one to collect.

Just love these, especially that he liked to put "Wahoo" on each autograph! Huge cornerstones of my signed T206 collection to be sure! First one from the Jeff Morey collection. Second one from the Great Pittsburgh Find of 2007.
