Default Are most PSA 1 Shoeless Joe Jackson rookie cards (E90-1 Caramel) badly damaged?

I want to buy one in the next few months and was wondering....do most have pin holes and other bad defects in PSA 1? Am I better off with a nice PSA authentic?

I have seen a few nicer examples it just depends on what bothers you. I had a nice 20 with a few light creases but not over his face. You can always buy one with back damage as well. As far as a straight 1 yes it will be beat up unless it has paper loss which would grade low but might present well.

Adrian, I suggest you avoid cards with paper loss. After that, its all about "eye appeal" I can handle creases and round corners, but when it comes to trimmed, paper loss, or cards with holes in them,.....well they're a deal breaker for me. Sounds like an e90-1 Jackson, along with a 52T Mick, all you will need is a nice 33 goudey Ruth and a t205 or t206 cobb for a strong foundation to a great collection. Dave.

Cardboard Junkie

That is what I will have to do just wait for the right one to come along...I will keep a eye on Heritage auctions and Ebay....there is one on Ebay right now but the damage bothers me to much (pin hole and a dent)....otherwise it has a nice look to it. Lolllll I am not much for Ruth cards except for his rookie and that is now out of my league....so I will simply never own one. Ty Cobb I will have to figure what one of his cards suits me the most and that will be in a couple of years as well. I want to concentrate in the next 2 years on my 52 Topps set, my Mantle PSA 8 master set and the E90-1 Caramel Joe Jackson....that is a LOT already on my plate!!!

The 33 Goudey Nap Lajoie will be next years big project or maybe even 2015.

Ebay link for Joe Jackson's rookie on sale right now (and no I will NOT be bidding on this one the damage bothers me to much):

That exact same Jackson E90-1 just sold for $6,500 with the juice a few weeks ago in the REA auction. Wonder why it is getting flipped so fast in an auction format? Hard to believe it will sell for much (or any) profit on eBay over REA. As mentioned prior to the REA auction, that same Shoeless Joe card has been sold numerous times in recent years.

I picked this one up in November off of the Net54 B/S/T threads... I think it has great eye appeal for a 20, and very happy to own it...
