Default TRIVIA.....The Oldest Major Lge. Player to hit a HR?

Posted By: Ted Zanidakis

TRIVIA QUIZ

A week short of his 47th birthday this guy holds the record for
being the oldest player to belt a homer in a Major League game.

His first BB card appears in the T206 set and his last card is
in the 1933 Goudey set; still as an active player. He's the only
one to have this distinction.

You are 1st with the correct answer....so what do you WIN....

My T206 QUINN

or my '33 Goudey QUINN

Jack Quinn was a journeyman pitcher for over 20 years. He 1st
came up with the NY Highlanders (1909) and ended his career
with the Dodgers (1932).....Won 241 - Lost 217.

During the Braves game last night they mentioned that Franco was one day older than Quinn was when he hit a HR. Franco turns 47 this week, and just needs to hit a HR to become the oldest player to do so.

Other trivia asked during a televised game this weekend: Who's the oldest living HOFer?

I'm fairly sure that the oldest living Hall of Famer is Al Lopez - if inductees from the broadcasting and journalism wing are included I'm not sure if there is someone older than Lopez.

Ted,

The oldest living HOFer indeed is Al Lopez. The oldest living major leaguer is now Rollie Stiles. There are still two players alive that appeared in a Goudey set; Billy Werber and another whose name has temporarily escaped me If you want to give me a prize and a home for a t206 Quinn....e-mail me!

In addition to Al Lopez, Bobby Doerr and Bob Feller both appeared in the 1938 Goudey set.
