Default 1954 Johnny Groth (Wilson Franks)

Just wanted to put out the feelers on this card. Please don't laugh...as I'm trying to educate myself on 50's era cards. I'm still thumbing thru an uncles old collection, and honestly have passed over this card about 100 times, without giving it much thought. Its the only one like it, in a collection of over 1,000 vintage cards....but obviously, I have never heard of Johnny Groth.

So, after doing the smallest bit of research, I see that the Wilson Franks cards are somewhat rare, and although very condition sensitive...are fairly collectible. I was just hoping to field some opinions, on whether or not this card was worth grading? As in..its in TERRIBLE condition, with rounded corners, and paper loss across the front of the card. So, would it even be worth it to grade..to atleast get an authentic grade? I have only seen a few listed/sold, and I understand that I'm not looking at anything significant in value..but would there be a market for a card like this? $5? $25-$30? $50+

I know that most set collectors are really only looking for PSA 5+ type cards, and I know that most posters here only deal in $100,000 Mantle cards, but was really hoping to get some input. Thanks!

In this condition, worth maybe $25-30. Grading seems unnecessary.

I definitely wouldn't spend the money on grading as there really is no return on the investment for this card in this grade. In my opinion, you only really need to get something graded if it is high grade (where the difference in grade makes a big difference in value), frequently faked (high value regional or big rookie), or a high value card where you want some assurance for purposes of insurance.

Yours in an awesome card but there really shouldn't been any doubt about its authenticity or what condition it is in. i mean no disrespect. I'm a low grade collector and appreciate cards like this that have been well loved over the years.
