Default Michael T.

poster looks very nice - I didn't see it in the "before" mode however. Could you post some info about the conservator? At Bill Mastro's suggestion some time in the early 90's I sent Chicago Graphic Restoration company a few things and they did a great job. At this time I am looking for someone else so would appreciate the "share"....

edited to add:

I actually found him once before but he neglected to get back to me. I assume by your comments you are more than happy with the work. Would I view the pricing as competitive? CGC was quite pricey. TX in advance for your reply.
friendly,

Hi Henry. I'm glad you liked the work I did for Michael. I'm not sure how I dropped the ball and didn't get back to you. I apologize. I do know that I'm a much better value than the other company you mentioned. Feel free to contact me with any questions you may have. I'd love to talk to you. Thanks

Thanks Matt! Growing up my dad frequently received gasoline and petroliana auction flyers plastered with all these colorful advertising items. I was intrigued by that stuff but 1990s baseball cards were my thing at the time lol. It wasnt until I was at a gasoline show with my dad, again I was still a youngster probably 11, that I stumbled upon a reproduction Ted William's root beer metal sign. I then discovered that I could collect baseball AND advertising all wrapped up in one. My dad passed away 4 years ago and these signs I've posted were purchased since he's been gone. I regret not getting involved in gas and oil with my dad. The Nourse sign reminds me of my dad alot because he had an identical sign hanging in his shop growing up that he ended up selling. The man who sold it to him had kids who used it for sledding in the snow lol. One side was nice, the other side not so much lol. At least the kids used the same side surface side down each time

Jonathan - this is perhaps my favorite piece of advertising in this thread! Amazing save on your part and I've never seen another. Interesting it was cut up almost like individual cards in 12 pieces.

Thanks This was a labor of love. It was cut in 12 pices when I got it. It was on the bottom of a box of Wheaties backs from 36 to 41. I had it restored then framed up with museum glass and frame itself is white ash. I have had it for over 40 years and thought I would find another but never did so finally fixed it up about 5 years ago. Glad I did..Great thread.

I’ve long been jealous of the quality vintage on here.

Today I picked up this awesome Schrafft’s cutout on FB Marketplace. Unfortunately it’s been glued and matted so it no longer has its original stand etc. But as a display piece it’s in remarkably good condition and highly aesthetic.

Someone mentioned on here before it’s from the early 30s and there could be up to 10 styles but this is only “right fielder” I could find. Anybody got any more info on these?

Schrafft’s is a local legend in Boston and New York so it fits well in my Red Sox collection.

Default Baltimore (Orioles) Black Label Carling Brewery Co Sponsor World Series Sign NBC TV

Hi. On the Brooks Robinson/Orioles site on Net54, i posted a picture and question about the below sign. I am not exactly sure what year this comes from. It seems it is either from 1966 or 1970 based on the Orioles being the visiting club in Game 1 of the World Series (thus, batting first / top of inning). I am leaning towards 1966.

The sign has 7 pages with a self adhesive tape on back. First two pages has Baltimore in the top of the inning. Next three has Baltimore in the bottom half of inning and final two games has the Orioles in top of the inning. Bottom right corner it says XB-111TH Carling Brewing Company, Baltimore, MD Litho in USA.

See below and thanks for any feedback.

I've always loved the bar scoreboards, especially team specific ones. Tin versions are off the charts as display pieces, IMO.

Default Love advertising and basketball

I only show up here maybe once per year but I love the thread on advertising. As a vintage basketball collector it is VERY hard to find advertising as it was not a nationally popular sport really until maybe the 80's. I have maybe over 100 but here are a few as I don't see anyone posting basketball. Enjoy and I am very poor at posting so I hope this works.

Some fantastic signed everyone has posted.
Here is one I just found again. Came from Ken Smith's personal collection which was sold back in the 1980s.

As you said, basketball had got to be a lot tougher to find than “America’s Pastime.”
