Default E90-1 Wagner - I Need Another Opinion!

Posted By: Mike Taylor

Recently I picked up an E90-1 Honus Wagner throwing in a lot of T206s that I purchased. My best guess is that it is authentic, but I would like a second (or more!) opinion from any board member better versed in carmel cards tham I. Using Pete Calderon's website, I have determined the following about the card so far:

1) It measures 1 5/8"x 2 11/16" - ie 1/8" wider and 1/16" narrower than standard.

2) The area on the back where the '20' would be appears to be unscuffed.

3) The back is not centered.

4) The print pattern doesn't look modern when viewed under a 10X loup.

5) The card back doesn't look overly white and the front doesn't look dark.

The following link goes to my website where I uploaded a front and back scan of the card for viewing:

Is This The Real MaCoy Or Not?

This looks like a memorex. The back paper screams reprint. My two cents.

Back paper is too white. Looks like a reprint to me.

Back appears too white. Image color appears too "flat."

Based on #4 above, it certainly could be real. Email me a VERY enlarged scan of some of the front lettering, and a section of the color lithograph on the front, and I should be able to tell you with certainty.
