Default 1933 Gehrig

I don't recall seeing a cards with spots of paper loss like this, make it to a 'VG' holder. Is this normal?

Is that paper loss or some sort of stain/residue? I can't make it out

Old label SGC and it's only on the reverse. I guess that's normal??
