Default market collapse..when did you know it was happening

I know in the housing market when the bubble burst..there were houses that 'sold' for $400k in Florida, which would of been about 50k of profit to the owner, but when financing or something fell through, all of the sudden the seller couldn't find a buyer willing to pay or get approved for more than 225k...and the short sale option was introduced....or foreclosure since the payments couldn't be made anymore...

that would of been that poor chaps introduction to the housing market collapse.

what about cards?

any stories out there like having a many sets of cards out there with someone making you an offer...and then it falling through only to find out a month later you cant even get 10% of what that first guys offer was?
