Like trying to pick a favorite child... Too hard, I could easily pick my 5 best D381's but for a bit of a mix I'll go with this today...

Amazing stuff in this thread. I love this kind of thread. Kenny, thanks for starting it.

It's impossible for me to pick 5 of my top/favorite items to show, or even 5 of my top/favorite cards to show, or even 5 of my top/favorite WaJo cards to show - I guess I'm too indecisive!

This may come across as strange, but among the cards in this thread that I most enjoyed seeing are the 2 rare strip cards with ads on the backs for "CAFE DU MONDE" and for ROBINSON CRUSO Salted Peanuts that Glenn showed in post #20. This is because I am very partial to scarce/rare cards with neat advertising from non-mainstream sets. Hence, I have picked these 5 such cards from my WaJo collection to show.

Jeff makes for one tough act to follow! I'll try with five of my favorite early Boston Braves items:

- 1889 Beaneaters team cabinet
- 1914 oversized team photo
- 1914 World Series press pin
- 1917 complete season ticket book
- 1922 old-timers game panoramic (amazing to me that there was an old-timer's game in 1922!)

Default Sittin' this one out

You ever take your glove and spikes to the ball field looking for a pickup game and when you arrive, there's already some older guys taking BP or infield? And after watching them hit numerous BP homers and turn silky-smooth double plays, you just decide to sit this one out and watch the big boys play. Not even letting them know you've got a glove too.

That's this ball player. Right now.

Some very nice cards and memorabilia, guys. Thanks for sharing.

Tom, please share, I understand what you are saying but everybody here started where you are and that is what's important. Don't ever feel embarrassed or inadequate about your collection, someone is always going to have a collection better than yours.

Jeff, that Matty is beautiful!

Default amazing cards

I am a new forum member and this thread has completely knocked me out. I didn't realize to what extent so many board members have such exceptional collections. I love my collection but it is nothing compared to the ones on this thread. Very inspiring......

Great Thread.

I also can't compete with many of the posts on this thread, but I'm happy with the beginnings of my Oklahoma Athletes collection.

This is my favorite 5 at the moment. 1 & 2 will never change as I can't even imagine anything I would like more.

1 & 2 are my all-time favorite 2 players, a Wade Boggs and Roger Clemens wrong back pair. These are the only known pair and I acquired these directly from Score.

3 A very cool Tris Speaker with a huge print offset.

4 This Clemente is one of the few real missing yellow color cards I have ever seen. It is now in a SGC slab.

5 The little kid in me just loves the T210 Ft Worth cards with the FTW showing.

Yes I like error cards and value has no influence on how much I like a card.

I hope it is ok if I post 6 - I couldn't get it down to 5.

A picture of Mickey Mantle on his first pro team, the semi-pro Whiz Kids, from 1947 when he was 16 years old. Mantle and a few of the other players have signed the picture (the other sigs are barely legible). The condition is a bit rough because it is an original copy that belonged to one of the kids in the picture, Guy Crow, who was the bat boy (left end of the right bench).

I've been sidelined with work for a bit so I'm late to this party but just couldn't help but bump this image. As a fan of 19th century baseball and cabinets, particularly colored mounts with a little flare, this historic baseball arrangement is off the charts cool. Jay, as far as you know, is this a unique piece? Not that I'd collect anything non-Detroit

I did 6 because it was hard to pick the 5th and the way I laid it out, 6 fit better. All T206 unsurprisingly.

Hi Joe! I've never seen another, but of course that doesn't mean it is unique.

Hey MattyC,

I saw your 52 Topps Mantle when it was on display at the Louisville Slugger Museum. Thanks for allowing me to see such an iconic card!!

Every time I see Matty's 52 mantle I think of the one in the Louisville Slugger Museum I think it's the same grade and displayed similarly. Sick card. The other 4 aren't too shabby either.

Note: Ben and I posted simultaneously. What a coincidence we had the same thought.

Note #2: I just saw the REG number is the same. Wtf? it's the same card??? How the hell did the museum get matty's mantle? Or how did Matty get the mantle from the museum????

Ben,

Thanks so much for seeing it!

Means a lot to me that you enjoyed it; that card always makes me smile.

My top 5. Not going to change for a while. Pretty happy with these. Probably paid too much for them!

Also, because it was fun, I made a top 5 Cobbs!
