If Leon or Brian or anyone else wants to join the SGC registry, or PSA for that matter, I say go for it. Life's too short to worry about about what the in crowd thinks, and skip having some fun.

There I said it (1st of 12 steps ?)
.... Anyway I am not sure what I think of these things in general -- are they "good" ? are they "evil"?

But, I have found trading partners to improve my sets by having registered my sets (or portions thereof because all of my cards are not graded at all let alone by the same grading service) which I think is clearly a good thing.

Nevertheless, I don't think my registrations will make me overly competitive as I have heard they have in some instances.

I have found the set registry helpful particularly for C56 hockey. Since I joined the registry I have found different people to trade with, share opinions on pricing and more information on what dealers are likely to be selling these cards. Like anything else it can be positive or negative depending on how and what you use it for.

but I am also a participant in the SGC Set Registry. Recently, I registered some of the cards from my 1936-37 O-Pee-Chee Series D Hockey Set -- the hockey equivalent of the 1937 O-Pee-Chee Baseball Series.

I'm so out of it, I'm like the guest who shows up in shorts and scandals to a black tie dinner. I didn't even realize the SGC Registry was even up yet. Just took a peak over there and so all sorts of folks I know. I saw Michael and I saw Keith and I saw Tom. It was like Network54 East.

Quite a range of high-grade cards, Congratulations.

One comment and one question re: SGC's Registry

1) Does SGC have any plans to have its server host images of cards listed in the SGC Registry?

2) I have written to SGC multiple times about a player-set-registry, with absolutely no response. This has kind of irked me -- as I would have been at least content to receive a response like "there are no plans to do such a thing in the immediate future". I think it would be a fun thing to add -- as some of us (myself included) are set collectors, team collectors, and player collectors. We shall wait and see, I guess.

there was a brief time where the contact link on the site was invalid and they were not aware of it until I directly emailed Derek Grady and told him about it.

They are very resposnive to any all questions I have had about the set registry. Scott Hersch is the person in charge of it and is more than willing to listen to suggestions.

Try contacting them again. I am sure you will get a response from them.

Jay

I already am a PSA registry member. I have four sets currently on there but only one is true Vintage worthy of mention on this board even though one of my sets already has $6k tied up in "slab fees"!
