Not slabbed or vintage, but a gorgeous card none the less.

I have wanted an Ashburn and a Spahn for quite a while now and I am glad to say I finally got them.

I set my max bids last night before bed fully expecting to be out bid but was glad to see I had won them, and a few others when I woke up this morning!

My wins are bitter sweet however as I told myself, after my last group of cards, to take a break buying cards, but I guess I don't listen too well! (Maybe I need help? )

Thanks, Ray!

I am the same with the Ashburn. I remember seeing my Uncle's copy some years ago and it always stuck with me.

Irv, the Ashburn is one of my faves as well with that emerald green back. Nice Spahnnie too!

I really like the 52 Ashburn also Irv...more ironic is the fact that each month we both seem to add some of the same copies of cards to our 52 sets, as I recently picked my Richie A card also.

What's next, SFMS, a Feller and a Snider? lol.
Those cards are now at the top of my want list. I missed out on a Feller being outbid by a $1 from the same auction the other night but was way outbid on a Snider.

Do you have any dupes to sell or trade? I have a few, Zoldak, Fannin and a graded 2 PSA Billy Johnson that I can think of. The Zoldak and Fannin I upgraded to better copies so they are somewhat rough. (Crease/stain) but would do for fillers or a lower grade set collector.

Default Pick-Ups: A "raw" and a rookie!

A couple of new items. The Mathews has a crease right in the middle of the card that I didn't see when I won the auction (it's really hard to see in the scan - much easier to see in person and on the back.)

I have been stung like that too, and it was from a reputable dealer/business!
I relooked at the scan when I received the card and it was impossible to see in the original scan. I was ticked as there was no mention of it but it wasn't worth the effort sending it back, etc, so I just ate the loss. (Thankfully it was cheap!)

Your card looks great, BTW. Mine not so much.

Got this one at the Chantilly, VA, Show yesterday for my collection of players who were on the 1924 Washington Senators Championship team. This card helped soften the realization that Washington won't be winning a championship again this year.

Default October Pickups

Here is a nice '55 Bowman Moryn from a 9 card submission received today. A nice addition to my Dodgers team set-in-progress. The other 8 cards included 1 grade as expected, 6 better than expected and 2 lower than expected. All in all, pretty good.

This one arrived today.

Was quite surprised with it's condition, other than top right corner, obviously, as it looks way nicer in hand than it did in the E-Bay ad.

great Williams; always a favorite card of mine.

This came in today and I was thrilled at how nice it is. The scans on the listing were cruddy cell phone photos:

Man, finding a nice version of that Hammerin' Hank card without the obligatory snowstorm of print dots is frickin' tough. Well done!!!

Got this Bill Lee card back in the last week for my 1974 Topps Red Sox team set. Asked for him to sign it Bill "Spaceman" Lee and he did. Happy with how this turned out.

This now makes 7 autos in my team set: Carbo, Tiant, Petrocelli, Tommy Harper, Cecil Cooper, Aparicio and Lee. Sending cards by the end of the year to signings by Cepeda, Yaz and Diego Segui.

Dan- I saw the new documentary/movie "Spaceman" at the Hall of Fame Film Festival a couple of weeks ago. While it is R rated it is very well done. Leaves you shaking your head when it is over. Amazing talent, just never had all the bolts tight.

Another lowered graded card that looks better than my higher graded one.(Below) It really makes me wonder at times if they really know what they are doing over at PSA?

Thanks Neal.

Great Jackie pieces, Shaun. I have really gotten into his stuff in the last year or so. Picked up this one recently:

Default Centering Weenies Rejoice:

...turned these in at the recent Valley Forge/Fort Washington show as part of the 'free grading for joining' special deal

..what ever happened to PSA's "half-grades" ? All fifteen cards came back with straight solid number grades....what are the odds of that ??

...I was actually expecting two "PSA 9" grades out of the fifteen subs but I guess I missed something somewhere..

..

Nice cards. If you check PSA pop reports half grades are pretty rare. This is a total guess, but I would put the odds of all 15 cards coming back with no half grades at about 2 to 1, a 50% chance. It wouldn't surprise me though if that percentage was even higher.
