Wow Al I'm impressed. Your lucky to see a couple of the Cameo Pepsins in an auction, let alone 50 in one lot. How long did it take you to amass all of those?

Hi Clint,
Actually not long I aquired the whole group in 1 large buy about 30 years ago. My collection was one of the largest and I probably had the most HOFers . Great pain in selling it but due to 2 personal reasons one I will say a son in medical school, I felt the time was right. I still have a few I will post them soon as I get a chance. My main love are the PM10 stadium pins. 1 3/4 and 2 1/8. like the ones Tom posted.

Hi Clint,
I believe at least 2 people on this board won 2 of my pepsins Wesley won my Cy Yonng and Phil Gary won my Jennings. If you check the vintage card site and search cameo pepsins there was alot of talk about it 4 to 5 months ago! Hey Wesley or Phil if your reading this, post them up would love to see them again!!!

Al - I love that particular PM10 series too but I've only come across two, and the Klu is the only one I was lucky enough to win.

Clint - The Stenzel's Rooters pins have to be about the rarest set I've come across. I have seen 10 different players in the set, but only one of each. Would love to hear if anyone has any info on the set or other players to add to my checklist. Here are the ten players pins I've seen:

Donlin, Mike
Ewing, Bob
Hahn, Noodles
Kellum, Win
O'Neil, Peaches
Pietz, Heinie
Schlei, Admiral
Seymour, Cy
Sutthof, Jack
Woodruff, Sam

They were produced by the Petibone Manufacturing Co. of Cincinnati. Most are found with the "Stenzels Rooter" paper backing, if your Seymour is the same one I saw on ebay I believe it was missing the paper back. One of the players I have (Harper I believe, will have to check later) is the only one from the set I have seen that has a "Petibone Manufacturing" paper insert as opposed to the Stenzel paper backing. Here are my Stenzels...

Nice pins Rhett. Did all of those come from one find or is that what you've put together over the years?

Rhett/Al - Thanks a lot for the photos. I love the Pepsin and Stenzel Rooter pins. Unfortunately, think the Pepsin pins are out of my price range (especially Hoy, Ewing & McPhee) and the Stenzel ones aren't much cheaper. Anyway, hope everyone keeps the pictures coming.

Hi Al, Those are some really great pins you have there. I only have a handful of pinbacks, but your Cy Young pin I won from REA is one of my favorites items in my entire collection.

I sent Young to PSA and it is now in a PSA 5 holder.

Al, love the Cubs pin and absolutely LOVE the Maris "60 in 61" pin! (email at aaron1050@aol.com if you are interested in selling either! )You've inspired me to take some photos and add to this thread. Pinbacks are my favorite niche within my vintage baseball memorabilia collection.

But before I do, does anyone have this 1912 Boston Red Sox World Series pin? I have been looking for a decent example for ages and will pay a mighty premium!

other lots! I know of 3. Funny I now own 1 of them back!
Long story for another time!!I know Phil is out there

Aaron M Thankyou I dont know if you saw the Mantle/Maris/
Berra/Skowron pin its next to the Maris 61 in 61 you have to move the bar. I have heard that you have a very nice collection I would love to see more and will check out

Thanks for not running me up even further, Daniel. Here is a scan of Young today. PSA is not my first choice for cards, but the holders that PSA uses for pins are amazing.

I actually sold my Cameo Pepsin Jennings a couple of months ago because I picked up a beautiful 1896 Hyatt Baltimore Team Pin picturing Jennings along with 5 other HOF'ers.

I just got this great pin in the mail today. Dan B. gave me the inside line on this baby and I was lucky enough to get it. The seller, Bert Wright, is a great guy who sells on ebay under Wrightstuff. Thanks again Dan for helping out. This is what collecting is about and I hope to return the favor soon. The pin is bigger than I thought as it measures 1-3/4".

I agree Al. Many of you have seen this one but for those that haven't here it is. I think the writing on the back makes this one. This button had only one owner before me. Her sister thought she lived or worked right on the parade route. I'll help you with the back:

"I feeling fine - Will write soon - I want you to wear this everywhere you go. Waiting for the boys, I mean the Cardinals. There are so many people in front of our door, we can't get out."

Andy, That is the one of the coolest pins I've seen. You are correct about them being out there, but the inscription makes it sooo much better!

Thanks for sharing, both of you.

Thanks. That Oriole pin was one of the very few that I actually stepped up and spent a few bucks on. I was worried about the condition but on arrival it turned out to be a beauty.

The same lady that had 26 pin also had this common one. But with a very uncommon back. Have any of you seen this back-paper?

Great looking pins everyone. Thanks for posting them.

Aaron - that 1912 Red Sox pin is a great one (although I personally think it would look real good sitting next to those other Red Sox pins shown earlier in the thread if anyone happens to find one )

All the best and good luck with your quest.

Just thought I would ressurect this trhead to show the 2 backs for the Stenzel's Pins (I finally got around to scanning them). I have only seen one card with the Petibone backing, and I bought it (It is on my Peitz, not Harper as stated earlier). Just wanted to add how delicate the pin mechanism is on these pins.

Rhett - Thanks for posting the Stenzel pin backs. Based on the info from your paper back, I believe this is the guy who had the pins made. Note the restaurant/bar across the street from the ballpark in Cincinnati.

From Baseball-Reference.com

"Jake Stenzel played at a time when the ball was the liveliest ever, so his statistics have a lot of air in them. Even so, he was a very good ballplayer.

His lifetime batting average is .339, over 9 seasons. He ranks # 18 on the all-time list with that average, right under Lou Gehrig. However, Stenzel never was higher than 9th in the league in batting in any one season. His lifetime on-base percentage is .408, ranking # 41 on the all-time list. However, he was never higher than 7th in the league in any one season.

In spite of that, he was a good ballplayer, with an Adjusted OPS+ of 135. His best years were all clustered in the period 1893-1897. His best year was 1894, when he posted the line of .374/.447/.539, and while he dominated his own team with those stats, none of those stats were in the top five in the league.

He began his professional baseball career as a catcher in 1887.

After his playing days, he opened up a restaurant and bar across from the ballfield in Cincinnati. However, when the U.S. joined World War I, business slowed and Stenzel was forced to sell the business and become a night watchman. He died in 1919, from what is said to have been the influenza."

Here are a couple more common Reds pins, but I like them....
