Default OJ

I am working on building a HOF autograph collection for both Baseball and Pro Football. Saying that there is a particular member of the HOF (OJ Simpson) who has done some not so good things. I am working on displaying my collection but I don't know if it is ok to Frame and display a OJ Simpson 8x10. Is It?

I'm sure many collectors have OJ Simpson's autographed photos displayed, but it is up to you.

What a dilemma! Personally, I would leave him out. I wouldn't want OJ, Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson, or Jerry Sandusky on my wall and believe their off-field exploits were so egregious as to be defining. Will also forever keep Bonds, A-Rod, McGwire, Sosa, and Clemens off. But Pete Rose, he is in! And if I were ever lucky enough to find a Joe Jackson, hell yes!

Note that I am not dictating what I think you should do...just saying what I would do.

Do you really want to look at his face, every single day, knowing what he has done?

Good point but it would be cool to have a wall full of HOFers. Im thinking it might be ok to put that more in a corner. I am afraid though it could offend people that come by specifically family since I'm Jewish.

I know this isn't the place but i Disagree with the negativity towards Adrian Peterson. While what he did was way to intense especially with him being a pro athlete he did it out of Love to teach his son. I think thats different from the atrocities in Ray Rice Jerry Sandusky Jovan Blecher etc.

I think it's all about if you want the photo up or not. Personally, if it were an action shot of him running with a helmet on it wouldn't bother me, but a close up of his face... Not interested.

I personally wouldn't worry about what others thought of a memorabilia display in my own home. People may not like a certain player, but some of those listed don't seem to see much of a price drop, so people are obviously still buying. Regardless of what he was accused or or did, he still performed and earned enshrinement to the HOF for his football skills. That can't be taken away.

How far do you take it? Do you not watch a movie he was in? Oops, here he is in a Dingo or Hertz Ad…better chuck the magazine.

OJ would probably say it's not the first time he's been framed.

You are the only one that can determine if it's ok for you or not. We all have beliefs all over the spectrum but probably none of us have the exact same beliefs as you and your family.

Personally, if I displayed football HOF'ers, I wouldn't have a problem with it whatsoever. If I displayed historical figures, I wouldn't have a problem with displaying Hitler or Osama Bin Laden if I had them. I do display Presidents, and it doesn't matter to me one iota if they are Republican, Democratic, or anything else, or if they made decisions I don't condone or agree with.

The people that know me personally know that I collect autographs, and they know that just because I display an autograph of someone, doesn't mean that I share that person's belief system or values or lack of values.

Your mileage may vary, and I'll go out on a limb and say that if you are soliciting opinions as to whether it's "right", than you probably wouldn't be comfortable displaying it and there are so many other options that unless you are striving to display a complete set of football HOF'ers, just leave him in the drawer.

Good luck either way with your display,

Mike

I was originally going to post and ask what you meant by "is it OK," but then I read this:

I have to agree that if you're asking for opinions, you're not completely cool with it, and you're really asking for "permission."

If you had a strong opinion either way (yea or nay), you wouldn't have needed to seek the views of others. It is, after all, YOUR collection.
