Default T204 Ramly - 1908 ??

Posted By: Hal Lewis

Leon (or anyone):

Why do you refer to the Ramly T204's as being from 1908...

while every other source says they are 1909?

Did someone find an old advertisement for them in a 1908 magazine?

Or do the teams associated with the players on the cards indicate their 1907 or 1908 teams??

Prove I said that I have no idea what you're talking about except for what you said.....Maybe there is some knowledge that they could have been issued in both years, and if so, I am not the one with it....now stay off of one teeny weeny N167 for me.....later

Hal -

1909 is definitely the correct year. The players' teams only work for that year, as Lipset pointed out in his T card encyclopedia. I've never heard anyone suggest 1908 as a viable alternative.

YOu are correct!

With a T204 Ramly Walter Johnson card up for auction...

I was HOPING that this was a misprint, so that I would NOT have to spend a bunch on the Ramly Johnson just to have his only "1908" card!!!!!

Whew, that was close!

I think we're going to need an intervention if you get that worked up over a typo. Leave the Johnson to someone who needs it, like me.

I've seen the T204 Ramly refered to as the Big Train's rookie several times which only makes sense to me if it were from 1908. Same phenominon with the e102 Cobb...some say it's Cobb's rookie from 1908, but I believe Lemke's book shows it as some later year or range of years.
