Default Anyone Collect 1936 R312 Cards?

Posted By: Richard

Greetings everyone. I was wondering if anyone here collects the 1936 R312 set? They seem to be pretty scarce.
Any info on the set would be great.
Thanks

I am getting a collection of 36 different that are glued into a scrapbook here in the near future so I think I will use that as a starter for a set (assuming the soak out ok). Ironically I only owned one before that and sold it on ebay a few days before I bought the collection and of course now it is one of the guys who I need. Murphy's Law I guess.

Rhys,

Did you win the scrapbook full of R312s that were glued down with frames? If so, I was the underbidder. I thought for sure that I would win them. I was up by a mile with about four seconds to go. Oh well, you can't win 'em all. I'd be curious to know if you can extract them without damaging them. And if you decide to sell any, I'd be interested ...

Richard,

I really like the set. It must of been quite popular to paste these into scrapbooks. Each of mine show light glue stains on the back corners, and I've recently been outbid on several scrapbooks full of them ...

This is probably my favorite card (if you can call it a card) that I own. I bought it attached to a scrapbook page, but you can barely tell now. It came off surprisingly easy. My experience with removing 1930s cards, though, has been hit and miss ...

Great card, one of my favorites in the set....along with the Joe DiMagio (DiMaggio).

Here's the guy in Baseball with the most "rythmical" sounding name....Van Lingle Mungo.

Chris, I also like these cards. I do call them cards since many collectors now consider the Exhibits true cards. There will never be 100% consensus though regarding what constitutes a card. Many collectors consider the Baseball stamps that were issued true cards. I personally do not. I love the Exhibits though and you will notice that many of the same exact photos were used in mainstream sets like the E120, 121, etc. Thanks for the reply. Have a great night. I am siitting here at work ):

Bought 5 R312s from Bagger at the Anaheim National for not very much money and picked up a couple of R313s off eBay just because I liked 'em. Don't know why they don't get as much respect as other 30's issues. They're (sic) are some very neat cards in both sets. As for scarcity, there always seem to be a fair number on eBay.

Edited Jan 17 to say Oh My Gosh I employed "they're" when I should have used "there". I am so . . . ashamed!

Dan - what is the weighted GPA of your set? Where does it rate on the registry?
