they'll lose in 3. I love the Twins, have since '61, but Gardenhire can't seem to understand why the guys keep losing to lefties when he plays 7 or 8 southpaw hitters in the batting order each game. He needs to go back and read John McGraw's book.

The key to the series, IMHO, will be the play of Christian Guzman. The Twins absolutely must be aggressive on the basepaths and push down a lot of bunts, and he can do both extremely well when his head's in the game. Twins must keep the A's guessing on defense, and do what they can to create runs. This is my biggest beef with Gardenhire-- way too much station to station baseball. Runs will be at a premium, and the Twins' pitching will hold. Probably too late to tweak the lineup for righties now-- you've got to play Jones and Koskie, and the 1b is leftie either way. You might catch Prince over A.J. in one of the games, and Bobby Kielty would be a great move over either Mohr or Cuddyer, although they all hit from the right. Hold on, it's gonna be a great series- all tight games.

Ever since Joe Morgan gave a lecture, doing color at an As game, about "small ball," I have noticed that the As don't play much of it--but are starting to play more. Very few stolen bases, very few bunts, very few "singles with eyes."

Does that lefty-righty thing REALKLY matter? I've always reacted to it as to a way of taking a great bat out of the lineup and substituting a mediocre one just because he hits from the other side of the plate.

Yep, the As are loaded with lefties...

Anyway, should be fun!

I like the A's, Twins and Angels (notice who I left out). It will be one of those cases where I will know who I'm rooting for when the game starts and find how I'm chearing. It's a better scenario than the typical Superbowl when I don't know who to root for, because I hate or don't care about both teams ... My dad's a Minneapolis-native (though he left before the Twins appeared, so he's more of a George Mikan-type guy), and I have more than a few relatives in and near the city, so there's bound to be undue pressure .... If the Angels bop the Yankees, I will be satisfied.
