Default Schmidt Rookie Card PSA 9

I just got back from PSA a Schmidt rookie card I sent in and it graded a 9! I looked on Ebay and three have sold in the last few months. One for $980, one for $1375 and one for $1800. Why the big difference?

Maybe they were buying the card and not the grade. All PSA 9's are not equal

i think the perceived quality of the sellers had something to do with it as well. PWCC sold the $1800 one. They always get nice prices for their items.

The $980 one ended at 7pm cst, while the $1300 one ended at 8pm cst. That might have had something to do with it as well.

Most important....look at shill bidding (people raising the prices)
Happens all the time...click on the bidders and see how many retractions and %bids activity with seller

I Always look at the folks with higher feedback

My thoughts too. There are many of us that do not use a sniping service as we manually bid at the last minute. For an auction that is ending at 7PM CST, that is fine with me. I am usually home relaxing at that time. However, that is 5PM out on the west coast, just about rush hour traffic. So how can those folks bid if they don't use a sniping service and they're driving home in traffic? To me, you limit the number of bidders by ending auctions at that time.

I don't list much on eBay anymore, but when I did just about everything ended at 9PM CST. That's 10PM on the east coast (still not too late) and 7PM on the west coast. You would think at that time everybody would be home and near a computer.

My advice on the card is to send it to PWCC. Even with the commission, I think you would come out much better than trying to sell it yourself.

Funny you bring up the Schmidt, as I just a couple days ago sold my very nice example, altho I kinda' hated letting it go. It's probably, w/out question, the finest 8 I've ever owned & am mystified why it wasn't an 8.5 or 9.
