Default Really? Poor guy...

So I started the 64 Topps set, and while organizing and cataloging I came across poor old Billy O'Dell...the Topps camera man caught him on a day when his herpes decides to flare up, and they can't do a further away pose?

I can't imagine how ticked I would be to see they used this shot...but really, who would even pose for a head shot like that? Haha...

The '57 Spahn was the same way. You would think Topps would have airbrushed those.

Default O'Dell

And if they had just air brushed them on later runs we could have had the 64 O'Dell and 57 Spahn lip fungal variations.

Default New, improved Digger

I guess the Topps airbrush guy didn't have thirty seconds to spare. Knock yourselves out, variation guys.

Maybe it was policy to not airbrush out herpes, as a warning to the ladies?

And maybe that's why Claude Raymond kept appearing with his fly open. It was Topps letting the everyone know, "Hey, no herpes here, have fun ladies".

Too funny! I've been putting the '57 set together and never noticed Warren's "Red Badge of Courage!"
