Default 1952 Topps Robinson, over $40,000?

Curious how many think this card will fetch this number?

I'm thinking it's pretty high but maybe that's market value for this high grade card?

I could seever a 9 getting close to that. Not an 8.

He's only had it for around a month and he's trying to nearly double his money, so I doubt it.

Kind of what I was thinking but wasn't sure?

I assume the reason it is not a 9 or higher is that mark in the lower right corner?
The card looks mint to me and that is the only fault, if you can call it that, that I see.

It does amaze me however the price gap between the grades. That is something I never dreamed would be so drastic.

My Robinson doesn't come close to that copy, which of course is disappointing, but I am still glad, to say the least, that I own one.

PSA 8 Robinsons were going for $9000 to $1100 in 2015...heck i even had one to sell on net54.....there really has been only that one lone sale of 25k range ..so i wouldnt go out running thinking the card is worth that.....theres a not great centered one on Heritage going for auction which i assume will go for less than the one he bought on Heritage earlier but we shall see

whats amazing is the 1954 topps kaline psa 8 was a 2000 card in 2015 and now its been setting new records on every sale...in the 7000 range now..sort of shadowing the ernie banks card

condition and POP is everthing for when the money jumps between conditions.....there was discussion on this with the green cobb at the psa 5 level.........

ricky henderson rookie psa 10 is a 20k card, and how much is a psa 9 rickey? probably a llloooot less......for cards in the 1980s..a lot of times its only the PSA 10s are the level when money pops..

Yeah, I guess you never know what will happen?

When cards are graded, am I correct thinking the very good, nr-mt, etc, part I see on slabbed cards is on the overall condition and the number associated with them is based on centering?

1st Robinson sold at Heritage 12/10/15 for $28,680.

2nd Robinson for sale on ebay. I guess they got it put in new flip. That's an expensive flip. David Maupin

haha but a good tactic...set the market price up by 3x..with your own purchase....then put in a new flip

well the new flip tends to show the card would be verified as real by PSA

i wonder if he bought insurance on the card...if not only cost him 5 dollars or so for the new flip....

the centering is pretty bad for a psa 8 by the way ..the card to me doesnt look like more than 7 at best

I doubt Charlie expects to get his list, but who knows.

You posted 2 pics of the same card but the top one looks better. (Cleaner/brighter) Why the 2 pics, was it cleaned up in the first one?

Sorry, 1952 but am I too assume that is the holder the card is in? Also, is the hologram part something new as well or have they always been referred to as hologram flips?

PSA just recently started using a small hologram on the label of their flips as an added measure to help prevent counterfeiting. I think they have been using them for less than a year, so it's pretty new. PSA will switch your cards from an old slab that doesn't have a hologram to a new one for $5 so some people are doing it prior to selling to give buyers a little more confidence that the card is real.
