Now their pre-50 is 1940-1949....but lists all the same cards they used to in the pre-50 category? Oh well.....I guess if we just go to the oldest section we will always be ok.......regards all

Last night when I was in the sell section they did not have the new categories (31717 - Pre 1930; 31720 - 1930 to 1939 and 16268 - 1940 to 1949), but this morning they do.

I'm not sure what their plans are to recategorize all the items posted under the previous pre-1950 category into their new designations, but for now it sure confuses the lookup process.

Well I would have drawn the line at 1948 or 1947 and maybe 1930 but I guess the ultimate result will be that we don't have to wade through early Bowman cards. Now if thye could just move the Reprints .....

A new ebay category that would be most helpful would be "NASA Graded Items and Blatant Forgeries" but I think we'd still have people posting into the pre-1930 category "by mistake."

If they bothered to actually talk to colelctors adn dealers, the most logical breakdown would be modern cards 1945-date, 1930-1945, 1920-29, pre-1920 and a 19th century only catagory would be nice.

Not that it will ever happen but it would be nice:

pre-'41...(I don't think enough supply exists, at
one time, for a 19th century category)

'42-'80
'81-present

and another for AAA, NASA, Libertyforall and other fraudelent/deceptive items....

best regards all

to explain to eBay the benefits of a system like Leon describes. (Separate the early gum from the topps/bowman, and the tobacco from the gum.) That was when they seriously revamped the system maybe 1 year ago, and they were soliciting advice. Oh well...I should've figured that since I'm not paying $15/auction to sell scraps of paper, they wouldn't care much for what I (or legions of other collectors) would have to say...

I just noticed the new sections. Yes, it's obvious they never asked a collector how to classify listings. I would like to see more company sections like:

Goudey (1933-1941)
Play Ball (1939-1941)
Bowman (1948-1955)
Red Man (1952-1955)
Topps (broken down by decade)

A section for reprints would be nice and how about breaking up the "graded" section into companies: GAI - PSA - SGC - and one for AAA/NASA for all the bidders who don't know what they are buying but have the right to buy the junk anyway.

...just hit the search icon, and type in FRAUDULENT Auctions. All the pissed on and erasure reprints, the laminated/spliced T-cards with impossible front/back combinations, the counterfeit signed cards, NASA and AAA graded scrapbook material, etc. all pop right up!!!! Try it.
