Question Fred Storbeck (Boxing) 1912 Cohen Weenen & Co., Information Needed

A couple of years ago, I purchased a lot of cards. Included in the lot was a 1912 Cohen Weenen & Co., Fred Storbeck, Black Back card. The Storbeck card wasn't the primary interest for my buying the lot; I never studied the card. Yesterday while working with my collection, I took some time to read the card's reverse.

The information included reference to Storbeck's 1913 South Africa Heavyweight Championship fight. From my research, it took place in December of 1913. The cards are supposed to be a "1912" issue. Does anyone know any details/information about this. When were these cards actually released? The difference between Greenbacks & Blackbacks? I haven't been able to find much information. Thanks

Here is a scan. One of three PSA population. One of two graded PSA 4.

I see some of the confusion on the dates in this issue looking through my guides.

The original World Tobacco card index published in 1956 puts these in the 1914-16 time frame.

Later catalogues put out by the London Cigarette Card Company lists a c. 1912 date on these, which is simply a ball park figure. So yeah, a 1914 release date seems much more likely to me.

Looks like a pretty big oversight, as every one I see graded has a 1912 date on them.

Once PSA gets garbage data in their system it spreads and never gets fixed. It is especially bad with foreign cards, where they seem to take whatever name or date they are given by whoever gets there first.

Thanks for the information. Every bit of information I found had them listed as 1912. I'm surprised that an error like this hasn't been mentioned or addressed. I've got to find one of those World Tobacco card index catalogues for my library.
