Default 2001 Fleer Legacy #102 Albert Pujols Autograph Fake?

I know that there are fake 2001 Fleer Legacy Pujols autos. This happened due to the way the exchange program worked combined with Fleer going out of business and selling blank (non signed) cards in auction.

From my research it looks like the authentic ones should be limited to the first 300 and that his auto should be lower and smaller on the card. Also it appears PSA stopped grading them once it was known there were fakes and BGS will only grade if the auto is authenticated first.

It is in the Mile High auction and I sent an email to them, but haven't heard back. This was just a few days ago so no reason to slam the auction company as they may be doing their own research at the moment. I just wanted to get others opinions on this one since it is graded (but not auto authenticated) by PSA. More in particular is it an authentic auto, just not a 2001 auto? Thank you.

A very informative blog on this card and its fakes:

I am not an expert on Pujols autographs, but I could play one on TV if given the chance....

If I saw that autograph on an "authentic" card straight out of a pack.....or if I that autograph was authenticated by anyone.....I would immediately look at it and say that it is a fake.

Pujols' autograph changed over the course of the 2000's decade. An early Pujols autograph is more slanted. Then over the next couple of years, it appears more straight up and down.

If you are wanting a real Pujols autograph, I would stay away from this one because this one is fake.

Even though it wasn't pulled from the auction others must have felt the same as it got a single $100 bid.

I was putting together a 500 Home run collection and came across another one of these on the bay. A little research showed that many of these fakes showed up after the Fleer auction. I sent a note to seller and he replied that knew it was bad, but he bought it at a show and was just trying to get his money back confused. My favorite net 54 quote is buy the card not the flip.

At this point I am just dissapointed that Mile High didn't pull it. I really didn't think it was an original released card, but I was not positive. As stated since the bidding was weak it appears I am not the only one. Yet still someone got it and will be attempting to pass it on once they learn the truth.
