Default Opinions on Auciton Houses

Posted By: James Gallo

Hi guys

I have a few pieces I wanted to auction but they were a bit low end for REA.

1918 D&M Sporting Goods Catalog (40+ Pages)

1913 Gillette Baseball Blue book (16 Pages)

Both piece have small photos of the players of the ear including Cobb and Jackson.

Any thoughts on what place would be the best or do you think I should just ebay them myself?

What about the best place to sell autographed pieces with Spence COA.

Thanks for any help and opinions in advance.

James Gallo

Looking for 1915 Cracker Jacks and 1909-11 American Caramel E90-1.

I'd take them to ebay. Not sure about the blue book, but the Draper & Maynard catalog should do okay. Not sure either one would bring the minimum $100 in a Mastro auction.

No intention of stepping on your toes Leon but I think that is what you might have recommended.

Ebay the books and signatures if they have been authenticated. I agree books values ay not make the cut for auctionhouse, but maybe someone knows better. Of course, ebay option does depend on your feedback...

If you have good feedback and provide good images of the signatures and COA, eBay is a decent place to sell signatures. Most bidders like a clear look at the signature, either because they want to make their own opinion or because they like to know a seller is confident enough to provide a clear picture. Though, most eBay bidders will rely on the Spence COA as final word.

If you regularly sell autographs and do a good job (authenticity, reputable authenticators, service, etc), you will likely get return customers as many autograph collectors like to deal with sellers they've had good experiences with before. Particularly in the area of autographs, experienced collectors like to have a stable of reputable eBay autograph sellers.
