Default Saco River Auction (Lot #126)

Anybody else notice something odd about this lot in last week's auction?

Someone just hit the lottery, and some poor consignor just lost out on a windfall.

The card certainly looks authentic, but aren't there Blue back Sovereign reprints floating around?

I think the scan just looks weird because the scanner settings were screwed up. All the scans look strange to me. Some too bright, some too dark, etc.

Yes, I recall that they were from a set of reprint T206s from about 15 years ago. They still show up regularly on eBay.

Default Blue Sovereign

I believe there were a couple of board members at the live auction - perhaps one of them saw the item in person?

Default Was there

It’s a green SOV. Unless it’s uncatalogued I don’t think anything special was missed.

Yes, I was there too, I gave it a quick check and didn't bid on the lot---I don't think it was a blue back.

So the scan of the Sovereign is pure blue, scanned next to Sweet Caporal that displays it's normal red shade, how is that explained?

Those look to me like different scans cut and pasted together.
