I don't know if it's what you're looking for, but I counted 13 Hall of Famers in the Yankees/A's game that day, six for Yankees and seven for A's. I was just going with the HOF theme the answers have so far.

This is a correct answer, but I apologize to Ben, whose answer is also correct. Pennock and Dickey did not play in the game, but Dickey was not called up until August 15th. Pennock presumably "took the field" as Ben said.

The question I wanted answered though "Was how many HOFers suited up for the game?"

I though maybe you counted the 1 of the 2 umpires.

Or my next guess was your 18th birthday.

Tom Connolly and Bill McGowan were umpires for that game, so you can add in two more Hall of Famers if you want.

Let's wrap this mess up by answering my question to the best of my ability.

"How many HOFers suited up for the game?"

13 players suited up and played in the game.
1 player (Pennock) suited up, but did not play.
2 umpires (McGowan and Connolly) suited up and took the field.
2 managers were Hofers, Huggins who suited up and Mack who wore a suit, but not a uniform.

If we count Mack's suit as suiting up, the answer is 18.
If we only count uniforms and not Mack's suit, the answer is 17.
If we only count baseball uniforms and not umpires uniforms, the answer in 15.

If there is another game, not an All-Star or old timers game, with more than 13 players who played in a single game, please report it here.

You should find out if Jacob Ruppert and Ed Barrow were also at the game. It was in Philadelphia, so maybe not.
