Default MEARS Auctions ends June 25th, 2011

Saturday, June 25th, 2011 MEARS Auction Highlights

www.mearsonlineauctions.com

Continuing the tradition of offering lots that cater to all collecting budgets, the MEARS June 25th, 2011 Auction contains its greatest selection to date. With over 3,000+ lots, our diverse selection features pre-war vintage cards, game worn jerseys of the Chicago Bears, and our staple offerings of vintage photographs from TSN archives. For this auction we debuted the category of “Exquisite Choice” photos”, the best of the best from the John Rogers Photo archives. Each image was hand selected for clarity, contrast, and special subject matter.

The majority of lots start at $9.99, and our selections are easily organized in easy to search categories. Although the sheer numbers of lots may sound too overwhelming to find what you are looking for, our search function allows collectors to scour the auction by title or description.

Pre War Highlights include:

90 lots Charles Conlon original photographs. Always a popular grouping, this selection includes images of Walter Johnson, Jimmie Foxx, Mel Ott, and many obscure players from the deadfall era. Minimum bids range from $25.00 to $100.00.

11 lots of “The Sporting News” Original Illustration art. Each illustration is hand inked and created to appear within the pages of the newspaper. Players included are Spud Davis, Happy Chandler, and Ossie Bluege.

198 lots of Exquisite Choice Photos. A new feature, this lot contains some of the finest, high caliber images selected from the John Rogers Photo archive. I encourage all collectors of pre war and vintage photography to check this link.

70 lots featuring a fine selection of obscure, pre-war game used bats are offered. Rare player bats, many one of a kind, are available. Names include Bing Miller, Lefty O’Doul, Frank Snyder, Ernie Orsatti, Johnny Mostil, Phil Masi, Eric McNair also used by Rick Ferrell, Mel Harder, Ken Keltner (only known example), Jimmy Foxx, Ted Williams (MEARS A9), and featuring lot #2965, 1917-22 Bill Wambsganss Louisville Slugger Professional Model Game Used Side Written Bat, Possibly used in the 1920 World Series, MEARS A9.

The final offering is “The Ultimate Chicago White Sox card collection”. Assembled by a lifelong Chicago resident, this collector attempted to obtain a card of every White Sox player from 1894 to 2010. Early examples of cards in this lot include 1887 Allen & Ginter Charles Comiskey, 1916 F2 Joe Jackson, Diamond Stars, Goudeys, Delong, and much, much more.

Post War Cards and Memorabilia

47 lots of game worn equipment including the “Windy City” Bears game worn collection.

Assembled over the past 2 decades, this is our finest offering of a single team to date. What is special about this collection is that it focuses on styles. Included are game worn jerseys, side line capes, and helmets from the 1950s, 1960s, & 1970s.
