I just won this (in fact James probably hasn't cashed the check yet) and am planning on having it switched over to SCG. All my E95's and Port. HOF'ers are going that route.



It looks better than VG-EX to me (discolored in lower left corner, and fuzzy right corner). Is it better to break it out and send it in, or have SGC re-grade and holder it (hoping for a better grade)? I have a few other PSA graded ones to send in, but they are graded fairly IMO.

Any insight is appreciated!

I am buying an Eddie Collins T-206 PSA VG-EX4 that doesn't look as near as good as that one. I agree with you that it looks better, a strong EX 5 maybe? I doubt it will go an EX-MT 6 or better though. Good luck in whatever you decide to do - nice card.

I would not break any card out. If SGC thinks based on looking at the card in the slab that there is a problem, they will not grade it but at the same time you still have a slabbed card which you can either keep or sell. If ton the other hand SGC thinks there is a problem with the card and you sent it in raw, it will be very hard to get back into a holder and its resale value likely will be less.

Id hate to say it but i think Elliot is right for once.If you have to send it to sgc make sure its not in the psa holder because the fact alone it doesnt fit should be enough to put doubt in their mind.Good luck with it

I never break out cards to cross over--isn't it cheaper to cross than to submit raw? Plus, if the card is not worthy, they won't do it. BTW, put "do not cross over unless the grades are equal or better" across the top of your invoice.

I think it is trimmed--I'd be surprised if it crosses over.

In a recent post about whether being short meant a card was trimmed many knowledgeable folks indicated that the only way to really tell was to look at the edge or to look for obvious signs like flared corners. That card looks no shorter than many T206s I have seen in holders. Mebbe they are all trimmed but I don't see how anyone can make a judgment that that card is trimmed just based on the scan.

even without being able to see the edges, this card has every sign of being trimmed. size, corner tips, uneven borders, no need to go on.

If youve seen enough T206s you can sometimes tell just by look if its trimmed.This one is too narrow not too short in this case. If a card is trimmed on the side the borders are already pretty narrow,so even a little off the side you can tell the difference.The card will also look TOO rectangular.If its trimmed on the top or bottom it will have more of a square shaped look.

If this card were an american beauty back it would look perfect. All AB backs are more narrow because of the size of the insert in the AB packs

Thankfully I'm not in this for the investment, but rather the love of the cards. If it wasn't professionally graded I probably wouldn't have purchased it, but it is such a clean, well registered card that for the price I didn't want to pass it up. Especially if it does end up being unaltered.

It all points back to buying the card, not the grade I guess. I told that little voice in my head to shut-up and maybe shouldn't have (we'll see).

It's too bad that you can't always trust the grading experts. If it turns out trimmed I will never buy another PSA graded card. They have so many mis-labled, and reclessly graded cards that I have lost nearly all trust in their service. Let's hope that they got this one right.

One of the 3 major grading companies deemed it as "unaltered" which means that it has not been trimmed.

I'm really surprised that no one other than myself and one other board member seem to realize that the top 3 grading copanies are infallible. Shame on all of you for being so paranoid.
