Default I may need a 12-step program

Posted By: Joe D.

I never really kept a list of what I was spending on vintage stuff.

Just purchased when I had money - and sold when I didn't.

Today, I decided to make a list of recent money spent and put it in a spreadsheet.

It was an eye-opening experience.

I spent way too much money in the last couple of months....
and the scary part is - I was thinking it has been a slow couple of months.

scary.

Invested you mean!.. Don't ever mouth a word of this again and forget you ever started this thread. You spent nothing, nothing.

Joe,

My advice: Don't keep a spreadsheet or look at the "Items won" section of my ebay. It can only lead to problems and guilt. Also, only tell the wife how much profit you made while selling your cards, not how much you spent.

No spreadsheets, No Ebay History lists, low-sugar and low fat...

no worries, we're here for you when you need help.

-and you just be sure to let me know when you want to dump that T200 Chicago Nat'l card for an upgrade...I always seem to have $50 burning a hole in my pocket!

Joe,

I did the same thing awhile back - just to keep track for insurance or taxes or whatever. I was surprised at how much it was when it was laid out in black and white.

But it was helpful as months went on (b/c I list the date of purchase) to see where I was in a month so I could either put on the brakes a little or pick up something I wanted for a little more than I thought I could spend.

You are all funny. lol i needed that. i too am part of the guilty party. i think most of us can use somekind of program but it is an investment to a certain degree.

ahhhh but what a nice feeling it brings to the soul holding a card you wanted or traded for.

happy collecting!
