Default Milk Glass Boar's Head

I wanted to share a story from my mother. She collects milk glass, a hobby she enjoyed sharing with my Grandma. I collect cards because of my mother. She taught me the joy of the hunt. She always told me, "If you don't buy that special item when you see it, you won't see it again." And I think that's true.

Anyway, since I was 8, or younger, she has been looking for her equivalent of a Babe Ruth autograph. It is the boar's head milk glass dish. It's very rare because it's ugly, and because the base of the dish was specially made to fit the cover. Most other animal dishes share a universal base. Since I can remember she has told me that if she ever finds the piece in an antique shop she will buy it. It has made my dad sweat every time they walk into an antique store.

Well, this week it finally happened. They found one for $1000. My dad started to pull out his wallet and my mother said no. She wanted a new car instead. My father couldn't believe it. He even texted me to tell me about it. Well, four days later she heard it was marked 50% off, returned and snatched it up! LOL

So now she has the pinnacle of her collection. I'm not sure where it's going to go, but I have a feeling some Hummel pieces are going to be moved out of her cabinet because she isn't going to let any grandkids get near it.

Congrats to your mom, that is great. And I hope both your parents are enjoying the new car, too!
