Default Heritage Auction #50007 - Ends November 15-16. Bidding Has Started!

Hi Everyone,

November 15th is here! First Session Bidding ends today! Don't forget about the Second Session lots that end on the 16th. There are a lot of great cards.

Now that the $8.1 Million T206 dust has settled I am letting you all know that bidding for the Fall Heritage Signature Auction #50007 has begun! This is our largest card selection ever with over 2,200 lots! This is a cards only auction! The auction ends on Thursday, November 15 and Friday, November 16. The extended bidding format is the same as it has been for years. Open (or Proxy) bidding ends at 10pm central time on the day the lot ends. You will have to have placed a bid on a lot prior to this time to bid during the extended bidding period. Our ending format is a 30-minute clock rule on each individual lot. After 10pm central, each time a lot receives a bid the clock goes back to 30 minutes. Historically, 85-90% of the lots close by midnight central time. To get detailed information on a specific lot see the “Auction Info” section on each lot page. That will tell you what day the lots ends, the times, bid activity, etc.

Some highlights:
- Over eighty lots of 19th Century cards including over one hundred N172 Old Judge cards including portraits of Harry Wright and Cap Anson. There are two cards not imaged in "The Photographic Baseball cards of Goodwin & Company (1886-1890)" reference book. The half dozen N173 Old Judge Cabinets includes Dan Brouthers, Buck Ewing and a newly discovered Mickey Welch;

- N403 Yum Yum Tim Keefe (Pitching);

- A pair of N142 Duke cabinets and four N690 Kalamazoo Bats;

- W600 Sporting Life cabinets – Seven lots including Honus Wagner;

- A complete set of 1906-07 Sporting Life Team Postcards in single card lots;

- Post cards fans will find multiple scarcities including: 1906 Ullman Christy Mathewson, 1907-09 Novelty Cutlery Ed Walsh, 1907 Seamless Steel Tubes Co. Ty Cobb (a new to the hobby find), 1908 $ In Shield Doc White, 1908-09 Rose Company Christy Mathewson plus Dietsche Tigers and Cubs and a PC796 Cobb;

- Tobacco cards include a 1909-11 T206 Old Mill-Brown Dutch Jordan plus other cards with rare backs;

- A selection of D380-1 & D380-2 Clement Bros. Bread cards;

- “E” Cards! Two E90-1 Joe Jackson cards, E90-1 Miller “Red Sunset” variation, E93 Cy Young, E94 Honus Wagner, three E94 Cy Youngs, two E95 Wagner cards and an E104-2 Wagner;

Catalogs mail on October 24 so you should receive them shortly. If you place $1,000 in bids in each of our catalog auctions, you will continue to get a catalog. If you haven’t or would like a free catalog, please email me at peterc@ha.com.

You can view the lots online HERE.

Want to know what the latest bids are? Click HERE.

If you have questions or issues about the auction, it is best to email me at peterc@ha.com or you can call me directly at (214) 409-1789.
Friendly suggestion: Please don’t wait until the last minute to place bids. When the open bid session is ending, caller activity can be heavy. We cannot update or verify your credit card information, references, etc. at that time or tell you what your password is. All we can do is send you an email for you to reset it yourself.

Thank You and Good Luck,
Peter

No, Heritage does not charge sales tax in every state. This is a list and starting dates for the states that Heritage (Sports) is required to charge sales tax:

State Effective
Alabama Oct. 2018
California 2009
Colorado Sept. 2018
Connecticut Jan. 2018
Florida 2016
Hawaii Aug. 2018
Illinois 2017
Indiana Oct. 2018
Kentucky Aug. 2018
Massachusetts Sept. 2018
Maryland Oct. 2018
Maine Aug. 2018
Michigan Sept. 2018
Minnesota Oct. 2018
Mississippi Aug. 2018
North Carolina Oct. 2018
New Jersey Jan. 2018
Nevada Oct. 2018
New York 2010
Ohio Aug. 2018
Oklahoma Sept. 2018
Pennsylvania Aug. 2018
Rhode Island Sept. 2018
South Carolina Oct. 2018
South Dakota Oct. 2018
Texas 1976
Vermont Aug. 2018
Washington Sept. 2018
Wisconsin Oct. 2018
Wyoming Oct. 2018

If you want to know your tax rate you will need to Google it. It is different in every state. Heritage is currently not registered in all states, only those where the sales tax thresholds have been met. States that are currently not present may be added in the future.

And here in California it actually varies from city to city as various locales add an additional sales tax to what the state already charges.

My last invoice had a 10% Tax added on (King County, WA), which even included tax on the Shipping Charge.

Like a dummy, I forgot to factor the sales tax into my bidding... Ouch!

WOW - 10% sales tax and 20% buyers premium added to bids. Seems to be an auction every week, must be the oldtimers are getting rid of all their stuff in retirement.

According to this article, for some states shipping charges should not be taxable.

Reminder: my Exhibit collection is up for grabs with some amazing cards, and I am presently $hitting myself over how few bids there are. Get to work, people! Don't make me come back there or you will be very sorry (to quote my father in the car when my sister and me were kids).
